Overview

The Garmin BlueChart g3 Vision HD is an electronic chart for the VUS024R coverage area, mapping Wrangell and Dixon Entrance from Cape Ommaney to Prince Rupert, including Prince of Wales Island, Dixon Entrance, Wrangell, AK, Behm Canal, and Observatory Inlet.

It combines Garmin and Navionics chart data with route planning and bottom-detail layers that are useful when you are threading tight passages, setting up for fishing structure, or working into small harbors. You get high-resolution relief shading, Depth Range Shading for up to 10 depth ranges, and contour detail shown with up to 1 foot contours.

Extra views such as MarinerEye and FishEye, plus satellite imagery overlays and aerial photography in many ports and marinas, help you match what is on screen to landmarks and harbor layouts when you are approaching unfamiliar water.

Key features
  • VUS024R coverage: Cape Ommaney to Prince Rupert, including Prince of Wales Island, Dixon Entrance, Wrangell, AK, Behm Canal, and Observatory Inlet.
  • Integrated Garmin and Navionics data for detailed coastal charting.
  • Auto Guidance calculates a suggested route using your selected safe depth and overhead clearance settings.
  • High-resolution relief shading adds color and shadow so bottom structure is easier to read than contour lines alone.
  • Depth Range Shading supports up to 10 depth ranges for quick target-depth viewing.
  • Shallow Water Shading lets you shade water at a user-defined depth so shoal areas stand out.
  • Up to 1 foot contours for tighter bottom definition on compatible displays.
  • Satellite imagery overlays, plus MarinerEye and FishEye 3D views for added perspective.
Variants

This chart is offered in two formats so you can match how you prefer to load cartography on your Garmin system.

The coverage area and chart content stay the same; the difference is delivery. The microSD/SD version comes on a preprogrammed card, while the download version is installed to an SD card using Garmin Express and is unlocked to a specific chartplotter.

  • 010-C0725-00: Format microSD/SD. Insert the card in a compatible chartplotter card slot to access the chart.
  • 010-D0482-00: Format Download. Load the chart to an SD card from a computer, then use that card in the chartplotter it was unlocked to.
Compatibility and fit

This product is for Garmin marine chartplotters that support BlueChart g3 Vision HD cartography and have a microSD or SD card slot. If your boat has multiple Garmin displays on a marine network, cartography can be viewed across compatible networked chartplotters when the chart card is installed in a compatible primary unit.

Feature availability can vary by chartplotter model and software version. Auto Guidance is a planning tool and does not replace prudent navigation and lookout practices.

Installation and setup

For the microSD/SD card format, insert the card into the chartplotter and select the chart source from the chart menu. Keep the card in the unit while you are using the chart data.

For the download format, you will need a computer and an SD card for the chart data. Load the chart to the card with Garmin Express, then insert that card into the chartplotter. Only one chart can be stored on a single microSD or SD card.

Use on board

This chart is a good match for skippers running Southeast Alaska and the northern British Columbia coast who want high-detail bottom presentation for fishing structure, anchorage scouting, and route planning through islands and narrow entrances. The photo and satellite layers are especially handy when you are lining up marina approaches or confirming landmarks in changing light.
