Overview

The Garmin 010-11120-00 is a replacement wind vane for the Garmin GWS 10 wind sensor, restoring the moving direction element at the masthead so your system can read wind direction properly again. It ships at about 0.3 lb packaged.

This is the directional vane only, meant for a straightforward repair when the original vane has been damaged, gone missing, or no longer swings freely after seasons of sun, salt, or the occasional bird landing. Once installed, it works with your existing GWS 10 hardware and electronics.

If you already have a GWS 10 at the top of the mast and the wind direction has become erratic or stuck while wind speed still looks normal, this is the replacement part that addresses the directional side of the sensor.

Key features
  • Replacement wind-direction vane that fits the Garmin GWS 10 wind sensor
  • Restores wind direction readings when the original vane is cracked, missing, or binding
  • Mechanical replacement part only; no wiring changes to your existing instrument or network
  • Appropriate for masthead exposure where constant UV, salt spray, and vibration can wear down moving parts
  • Packaged shipping weight is approximately 0.3 lb
Compatibility and fit

Compatibility is specific to the Garmin GWS 10 wind sensor. It is not a universal vane and it is not intended for other masthead wind sensors or later Garmin wind transducers. If your boat has multiple wind systems over the years, confirm the masthead sensor model before ordering.

Installation and setup

Plan for safe mast access before starting. Replace the damaged vane, then confirm it pivots freely through a full swing with no rubbing or sticking. Any obstruction at the sensor head will show up as slow response, a fixed angle, or wind direction that hangs up on one tack.

After the swap, verify wind direction on your display while the boat is underway. If the sensor has been removed and re-mounted or rotated during service, you may need to re-check the wind angle offset setting in your instrument setup so the displayed angle matches the boat’s heading.

Maintenance and care

At the masthead, salt crystals and airborne grime build up quickly. A periodic fresh-water rinse and a quick check that the vane still swings cleanly can prevent binding and extend the life of the moving parts. If wind direction becomes sluggish again, inspect for fouling, impact damage, or anything contacting the vane through its travel.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
