Overview
The Hella Marine 014566121 is a 10 inch LED mini warning lightbar with a magnetic mount and an amber light output under a clear dome. It provides a 360-degree warning signal with user-selectable flashing and rotating patterns for situations where you need to be seen clearly on the water.
It accepts 10 to 30 V DC input for 12 V and 24 V systems, draws up to 70 W, and is rated for operation from -40°C to +65°C. The dome and housing are polycarbonate, the magnet version uses a 2.5 m cable, and the unit carries IP6K9K and IP6K4K protection ratings for wet conditions and high-pressure cleaning.
Key features
- Multi-voltage input (10 to 30 V DC) for 12 V and 24 V electrical systems
- Magnetic mounting for quick placement on a ferrous metal surface
- User-selectable warning patterns, including flashing and rotating
- Amber LED output under a clear polycarbonate dome for all-around warning visibility
- Up to 70 W draw, with polarity reversal protection
- IP6K9K and IP6K4K protection ratings for wet environments and aggressive washdowns
- Operating temperature range: -40°C to +65°C
- Approximate size: 400 mm long, 218 mm wide, about 49 mm tall
Installation and setup
The magnetic base works best on clean, flat steel. On many boats, common mounting spots include a steel deck plate, a work platform, a service vehicle carried aboard, or a dedicated steel pad installed where you need temporary warning coverage. If the surface is painted, dirty, or curved, take a moment to wipe it down so the magnet can sit flat.
Plan the cable run so it will not get pinched by a hatch, door, or sliding track, and keep it clear of hot surfaces. In rough water, it is smart practice to add a secondary restraint so the unit stays aboard if the mounting surface flexes or takes an impact.
Electrical and system integration
This lightbar operates across 10 to 30 V DC, which makes it a straightforward fit on both 12 V and 24 V boats. Current draw is about 6.1 A at 12 V and about 2.8 A at 24 V, so confirm your outlet or circuit can supply the load without nuisance trips.
Polarity reversal protection helps guard against accidental reverse connection, but you should still wire and fuse it correctly for your boat. If you are using it in exposed areas, keep connections dry and supported so vibration does not work the wiring loose over time.
Use cases on board
This style of amber warning lightbar is commonly used on workboats, commercial vessels, and support craft when crew are working on deck, handling tow gear, servicing equipment at night, or operating in low-visibility situations where an attention-getting warning signal helps nearby traffic understand that something is happening.
It is a good match for boaters who want a removable warning beacon they can move between tasks and locations without committing to a permanent mount, while still keeping compatibility with both 12 V and 24 V electrical systems.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the unit after saltwater exposure and avoid abrasive cleaners on the clear dome. If you store it between uses, keep the magnetic base free of grit so it does not scratch mounting surfaces and so it can sit flat the next time you deploy it.
