Overview
The Victron Energy Quattro 48/10000/140-100/100 120V is a 48V inverter/charger for larger onboard AC systems that need a 120V pure sine wave supply, a high-output battery charger, and automatic switching between two AC sources. It delivers 10000 VA, 8000 W continuous output at 25 °C, has a 140 A house battery charger, and uses two 100 A AC inputs, which suits installations where shore power and a generator both feed the vessel.
The Quattro format is especially practical on boats with both shore power and a genset. It can keep both AC sources connected, select the active source automatically, and move critical loads onto inverter power in less than 20 milliseconds when the AC input drops out. The second AC output is only live when shore power or generator power is present, so it can be used for loads that should not drain the battery bank, such as a water heater or air conditioning circuit.
This model uses an aluminium enclosure with IP21 protection and measures 572 x 488 x 344 mm, with a weight of 58 kg. It belongs in a dry, protected electrical space with ventilation and proper structural support, not in a location exposed to bilge water, washdown spray, or direct saltwater exposure.

- QUA483100100: Certification Standard, frequency 60 Hz. This is the standard 60 Hz configuration for 120V AC systems using the Quattro 48/10000/140-100/100 platform.
- QUA483100102: Certification UL, frequency 60 Hz. The UL certification is the key difference for installations where the electrical plan or inspection requirements call for that listing.
- QUA483100300: Certification Unconfirmed, frequency 50/60 Hz. The 50/60 Hz rating gives this configuration broader frequency flexibility for mixed-standard AC systems.
Installation and setup
Installation should be treated as a permanent AC and DC power-electronics project. Cable sizing, overcurrent protection, grounding, ventilation, AC input configuration, and battery-bank integration need to match the vessel’s electrical plan and should be handled by a qualified marine electrical installer.
The unit’s size and 58 kg weight make mounting location important. A protected vertical bulkhead or equipment-board location is the usual fit, with enough clearance for cable bends, service access, and airflow around the enclosure.
Electrical and system integration
The two AC inputs are useful on boats that move between dockside shore power and generator operation. The current limit can be set for each AC input, allowing the charger and onboard AC loads to work within the available shore or generator capacity instead of overloading the source.
With a compatible GX device, the Quattro can be monitored and controlled locally or remotely through the Victron ecosystem. That makes it easier to check AC input status, charger behavior, battery condition, and system alarms from the helm, the cabin, or away from the boat.
Compatibility and fit
This Quattro is for 48V battery systems and 120V AC installations. It is not a direct match for 12V or 24V battery banks, 230V AC systems, or exposed mounting locations unless the surrounding electrical design specifically accounts for those requirements.
It is a strong fit for cruising boats, passagemakers, and fishing vessels with larger house loads, generator charging, and a need for stable AC power at anchor or underway. It also suits refit projects where the owner is moving toward a larger 48V battery bank and wants one central unit for inverter output, battery charging, AC transfer, and system communication.
