Overview

The TACO Marine T10-4000-10 is a ShadeFin Mini rod holder mount for adding the ShadeFin Mini boat shade to an existing rod holder location. It fits standard rod holders with an inside diameter of 1.75 inches or greater, giving boat owners a clean way to set shade near the cockpit, fishing area, helm, or seating space without adding a permanent deck mount.

This is the mount only, made for use with the TACO ShadeFin Mini system. The 9-1/4 inch mount uses aluminum-grade 6061 alloys with a powder-coated misty silver finish, plus a Type-304 stainless steel threaded rod and an injection-molded nylon cap for the tightening point.

Once installed in the rod holder, the mount can stay in place when the shade is not being used, or it can be loosened, removed, and stowed. That makes it a practical option for boats where shade needs change between fishing, cruising, anchoring, and dockside time.

Installation and setup

Installation is straightforward: insert the mount into a compatible rod holder, tighten it until snug, and attach the ShadeFin Mini. The setup works well for boats that already have rod holders in useful shade positions, especially center consoles, bay boats, skiffs, pontoons, and fishing boats where a fixed shade mount may not be the best fit.

Before ordering, measure the inside diameter of the rod holder and confirm that the location gives the ShadeFin Mini enough room to open, angle, and clear nearby rails, leaning posts, outriggers, rods, antennas, or canvas.

Compatibility and fit

This mount is intended for the TACO ShadeFin Mini and standard rod holders with an inside diameter of 1.75 inches or greater. It is not a universal umbrella base and it is not the complete ShadeFin Mini shade assembly, so the shade unit must be purchased separately unless it is already on board.

It is a good match for boaters who want shade that can move with the day rather than stay fixed in one permanent mounting position. The rod holder location also helps keep the mounting point off the walking surface, which can be useful on smaller decks and open cockpit layouts.

Materials and care
