Overview
The Garmin 010-01010-00 is a GPS 19x HVS position receiver and antenna that feeds NMEA 0183 GPS data to compatible marine electronics. Out of the box it outputs position updates at 10 Hz over a 38400 bps serial link, and it can be limited to 1 Hz at 4800 bps when you need compatibility with older NMEA 0183 gear.
It runs on 8 to 33 Vdc (unregulated) and draws about 40 mA at 12 Vdc, with a 9.14 m (30 ft.) cable for routing to the helm or an electronics locker. The housing is fully gasketed and IPX7 water-rated, and the antenna measures 91.6 mm in diameter by 49.5 mm high. Keep it at least 150 mm (5.9 in.) from a magnetic compass.
Key features
- NMEA 0183 GPS output with a factory 10 Hz update rate at 38400 bps, plus a selectable 1 Hz mode at 4800 bps
- Supports WAAS and GLONASS for reliable position fixes in typical marine conditions
- Wide DC input range (8 to 33 Vdc) with low current draw (40 mA @ 12 Vdc)
- Power lead calls for a 1 A fuse on the red (+) feed with black as ground
- 9.14 m (30 ft.) attached cable that can be trimmed to suit the installation route
- Mounting options cover surface mounting, standard 1 in. OD 14 TPI pole mounting (cable inside or outside the pole), and under-fiberglass mounting
- IPX7 water rating and a -30°C to 80°C operating temperature range for open-boat and enclosed mounting locations
Compatibility and system integration
This antenna connects to a NMEA 0183 compliant device and can feed up to three NMEA 0183 devices with GPS data from the same source. For wiring, the transmit pair from the antenna is gray (Tx/A Out +) and white/red (Tx/B Out -), and the receive pair is white (Rx/A In +) and white/orange (Rx/B In -). If your receiving device only has a single Rx wire, it typically connects to gray (Tx/A) and the white/red lead stays unused.
Power is supplied on the red lead through a 1 A fuse with black as ground. The orange accessory-on wire is used for systems that provide an accessory signal; if your device does not, the antenna should be wired so it is switched off when the boat is unattended to avoid battery drain.
Installation and placement
For consistent satellite reception, mount the antenna where it has a clear view of the sky and is not shaded by a mast, radome, or superstructure. Keep it away from strong magnets and ferrous objects, and route the cable away from engines and other sources of electromagnetic noise. When a VHF antenna or radar is on board, keep this GPS antenna at least 1 m (3 ft.) from a VHF antenna and out of the radar beam path.
Under-deck mounting only works under fiberglass because GPS signals do not pass through metal. If you are drilling for cable routing, plan a 25 mm (1 in.) cable hole for a surface mount pass-through, or a 19 mm (3/4 in.) pass-through when routing through a pole. On fiberglass, a light countersink through the gel-coat helps reduce the chance of cracking when fasteners are tightened.
Maintenance and care
Clean the outer casing with a cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution, then wipe it dry. Avoid chemical cleaners and solvents that can damage plastic components.
Who this is for
This setup is a good fit for boats running NMEA 0183 chartplotters, autopilots, AIS, or instrument displays that need stable GPS position data. It is especially useful when you want smoother updates for slow-speed maneuvering and docking, and when higher update rates help the screen and overlays stay more consistent through turns and speed changes.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
