Overview

The Garmin BlueChart g3 Vision HD VEU506S is an electronic chart for the southeastern Mediterranean Sea, covering the passage area from Crete to Cyprus with detailed coastal data and port plans. It includes Depth Range Shading for up to 10 depth ranges and up to 1-foot contours, which helps when you are judging approach depths, anchoring areas, and bottom shape for fishing.

You also get satellite imagery overlays, 3D chart views (MarinerEye and FishEye), and aerial photography for many ports and harbors, which is useful when you are lining up an entrance you have not run before. Auto Guidance can calculate a suggested route based on your set depth and overhead clearance, so you can start with a sensible plan before you fine-tune it to local conditions.

The chart region and core features remain focused on VEU506S (Crete to Cyprus); the main difference is whether the chart data arrives on removable media or is loaded to a card through a computer.

• 010-C0850-00: Format microSD/SD. Supplied on a pre-programmed card for chartplotters that accept microSD or SD media.
• 010-D0430-00: Format Download. Loaded to an SD card using Garmin Express before it is used in the chartplotter.

Coverage area

VEU506S focuses on the southeastern Mediterranean corridor between Crete and Cyprus and nearby Aegean island groups. It also includes coastal sections and selected port plans for key stops along the route, which is handy when you are building a passage plan that mixes offshore legs with frequent harbor entries.

Compatibility and fit

This chart is for compatible Garmin chartplotters that support BlueChart g3 Vision mapping. For the microSD/SD format, your unit needs a microSD or SD card slot available for the chart card. For the download format, you will be loading the chart to an SD card first, then using that card in the chartplotter.

Installation and setup

For the microSD/SD version, insert the chart card into the chartplotter and allow the unit a moment to index the mapping. For the download version, install Garmin Express on a computer, use a card reader to connect the SD card, and follow the prompts to load the chart data to that card.

Use on board

Auto Guidance is a planning tool and should be treated as a starting point; always cross-check routes with local notices, conditions, and sound navigation judgment.

Care and handling

Keep the chart card clean and dry, and avoid bending the media or leaving it loose where it can collect salt spray. If you move the card between helm stations, store it in a protective case so the contacts stay free of grime and corrosion.

Processing and dispatch
