Variants

This PowerGuard range is offered in three configurations based on battery series. The battery series is the key fit point, so the box should be matched to the installed battery before ordering.

The variants differ by battery group fit and box size. Across the range, the boxes are vented, black, made from polypropylene, include a hold-down strap, and meet ABYC E-10 and U.S. Coast Guard Specification 183.420.

• 9082-1 fits Battery Series U1. This smaller configuration is suited to compact batteries often used in personal watercraft, small auxiliary systems, and other tight battery locations where a full-size Group 27 or Group 31 box is not needed.
• 9067-1 fits Battery Series 27/27F/27M. This mid-size option matches common marine starting and deep-cycle battery groups used on many runabouts, fishing boats, and pontoons.
• 9084-1 fits Battery Series 29/31. This larger configuration accommodates Group 29 and Group 31 batteries, often used where higher battery capacity is required for trolling motors, house loads, or extended time away from shore power.

Compatibility and fit

Battery group size is the most important fit check. A U1 battery should be paired with the U1 box, Group 27, 27F, or 27M batteries should be paired with the 27-series box, and Group 29 or 31 batteries should be paired with the 29/31 box. The lid, cable exits, and hold-down strap all depend on the battery sitting properly inside the box.

Before installation, confirm the battery footprint, terminal height, and cable routing in the actual mounting location. The box needs enough clearance for the lid, strap, cable bend radius, and hand access for future battery inspection or replacement.

Installation and use on board

Mount the box on a flat, stable surface where the battery weight is fully supported and the strap can be properly secured. Good locations include battery trays, lazarette compartments, console interiors, and utility lockers that remain accessible for charging and maintenance.

Route positive and negative cables through the molded openings without sharp bends or lid interference. After the battery is installed, check that the lid sits correctly and that the strap holds the box firmly before the boat is trailered or run in rough water.

Maintenance and care

Inspect the box during battery checks for acid residue, loose hardware, cracked plastic, or a strap that no longer holds tension. Keeping the battery compartment clean and dry helps protect nearby wiring and makes it easier to spot corrosion at the terminals.
