Overview
The Perko Fold Down White All-Round Light is a 12 Volt incandescent navigation pole light for power driven vessels under 20 meters, or 65.6 ft., in length. It carries a 2-mile USCG 2nm rating and uses a 9 watt bulb that draws .69 amps, making it a practical replacement or installation choice for small powerboats that need an all-round white light above the deckline.
This fold-down light is made for common topside locations such as windshields, T-tops, rails, arches, and hardtops. The 360-degree reduced-glare layout uses a top in black polymer, a lens that is clear and fluted, and a frosted globe to help control light spill while keeping the all-round white light visible where required.
Key features
- 2-mile USCG 2nm certified for power driven vessels under 20 meters, or 65.6 ft., in length
- 12 Volt incandescent operation with a 9 watt bulb drawing .69 amps
- Fold-down adjustable-angle base for lowering the pole when the light is not in use
- 360-degree reduced-glare construction with a clear fluted lens and frosted globe
- 3/4 inch diameter anodized pole for a clean fit with the matching Perko base configuration
- Mounting options cover vertical mount, horizontal mount, and quick release lever configurations
- Uses #8 screws, with adapter support available for flat or V-type mounting surfaces and through-base wiring
Variants
This Perko fold-down all-round light is offered in three configurations. The mount style and overall height change by variant, while the core light remains a 12 Volt, 9 watt, .69 amp white all-round incandescent pole light with a 2-mile USCG 2nm rating.
Use the mount style to match the surface and the stow direction on the boat. Vertical and horizontal bases fold in different directions relative to the attachment plate, while the quick release lever version uses a lever-style base for applications such as flat mounting surfaces and pontoon square rails.
- 1637DP0CHR: Vertical mount, 14-1/8 inch overall height. The vertical base folds down along the plane of the attachment plate, which works well on many windshield, T-top, rail, arch, and hardtop installations.
- 1634DP0CHR: Horizontal mount, 14-3/4 inch overall height. The horizontal base folds down opposite the plane of the attachment plate, helping the pole lay away from the mounting surface when stowed.
- 1638DP0CHR: Quick release lever, 13-7/8 inch overall height. The lever-style mount is suited to flat mounting surfaces and pontoon square rails where quick release hardware is part of the installation.
Installation and fit
Before installation, check that the selected mount style clears nearby canvas, rails, antennas, and windshield frames when the pole is raised and when it folds down. The 1634 horizontal mount and 1637 vertical mount have different fold directions, so the available stow path matters as much as the mounting footprint.
The light uses #8 mounting screws and a 3/4 inch diameter anodized pole. For flat or V-type mounting surfaces, compatible polymer adapter support is available with a notch for through-base wiring, which helps keep the wiring path cleaner at the base.
Use on board
This light is a good match for small powerboats that need a fold-down all-round white navigation light for night running, low-visibility operation, or replacing an older incandescent pole light in the same general location. It is especially useful where the pole needs to stand above surrounding structure while underway and fold down to reduce obstruction at the dock, on the trailer, or under a cover.
