Overview
The Perko 0170 Series is an LED green side navigation light for sail or power-driven vessels under 20 meters, with a 112-1/2 degree visibility arc and 2-mile USCG 2nm certified visibility.
This is the starboard-side light in Perko's European-style 0170 LED range, offered here in 12 Volt configurations with black plastic, chrome plated, or white plastic housing options. It uses LED technology that draws less power than standard lights, runs with low heat, and gives the boat a clean look when off because the LED lens appears clear when not illuminated.
The light measures 4-1/8 inches wide by 3-5/8 inches high with a 2-1/4 inch overall projection, so it is suited for visible side mounting where the required arc stays unobstructed. It installs with #10 screws and fits boats that need a green navigation sidelight for compliant night running, low-light maneuvering, or regular coastal use.
Key features
- Green side navigation light for the starboard side of sail or power-driven vessels under 20 meters.
- 112-1/2 degree visibility arc supports proper sidelight coverage when mounted with a clear view forward and abeam.
- 2-mile USCG 2nm certified visibility for navigation light compliance on applicable vessels.
- 12 Volt LED configuration with 4.65 watts draw and less than 0.31 amps current draw.
- LED lens appears clear when the light is off, which helps the fixture blend into the boat's trim.
- Housing options include black plastic, chrome plated, and white plastic to match common hull, deck, and rail finishes.
- Overall size is 4-1/8 inches wide by 3-5/8 inches high by 2-1/4 inches projected from the mounting surface.
- Uses #10 mounting screws for installation on a prepared, flat mounting area.
Variants
This product is offered in three housing configurations with the same green sidelight function for 12 Volt installations.
The housing finish is the main difference between the variants. The 112-1/2 degree arc, 2-mile USCG 2nm certified visibility, LED technology, #10 screw size, and overall dimensions are consistent across these listed configurations.
- 0170BSDDP3: Black plastic housing. This option suits dark trim, black rail hardware, and installations where the fixture should sit visually understated on the boat.
- 0170MSDDP3: Chrome plated housing. This option uses a chrome plated brass top with a black polymer base, giving the light a polished look for boats with brightwork or chrome deck hardware.
- 0170WSDDP3: White plastic housing. This option works well on white gelcoat, console sides, and deck areas where a lighter fixture finish blends better with the mounting surface.
Installation and fit
Mount this light where the green sidelight arc is not blocked by rails, canvas, windshields, bow pulpits, anchors, or other deck hardware. A clean line of sight matters as much as the light output, especially when running near traffic, channels, or marina entrances after dark.
The fixture is a practical match for owners replacing older 12 Volt sidelights in the 0170 size range or updating to LED lighting while keeping a traditional side navigation light layout. Before installation, confirm the mounting surface has enough flat area for the 4-1/8 inch width and that the wiring route is protected from chafe and standing water.
Electrical and onboard use
The 12 Volt LED setup keeps current draw low, which is useful on small cruisers, fishing boats, and sailboats where navigation lights may stay on for long periods during overnight passages or early departures. At less than 0.31 amps, the light places a modest load on the vessel's DC system compared with many older incandescent fixtures.
Use this light as part of a complete navigation light arrangement that matches the boat type, length, and operating rules. It is a green sidelight only, so the vessel will also need the correct red sidelight, stern light, masthead light, or all-round light as required for the installation.
