Overview
The Perko 0065 is a cast bronze intake strainer for underwater hull intakes on boats. It helps keep larger debris away from raw-water intake openings while allowing steady water flow through machined slots.
This strainer is used where seawater needs to enter the vessel for systems such as engine cooling, generators, air conditioning, or other raw-water circuits. The range covers maximum pipe sizes from 1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inch, with strainer dimensions of 3 x 4 inches on the smaller sizes and 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inches on the 1-1/4 inch version.
Each version uses #8 fasteners and is supplied in a configuration with a flanged nut. Maximum hull thickness varies by size, so the selected variant should match both the pipe size and the hull thickness at the installation point.
Key features
- Cast bronze construction for underwater marine intake applications.
- Machined slots help screen the intake opening without fully blocking water flow.
- Available for maximum pipe sizes of 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, 1 inch, and 1-1/4 inch.
- Maximum hull thickness support ranges from 2-3/16 inches to 3 inches, depending on the selected size.
- Uses #8 screws for mounting to the hull.
- Spare flanged nut reference 0075 is used across the series.
Variants
This intake strainer is offered in four size configurations for different raw-water intake installations.
The pipe size, maximum hull thickness, and strainer footprint vary by part number. The cast bronze body, machined slot layout, #8 screw size, and flanged nut style are consistent across the series.
- 0065DP4PLB: 1/2-inch maximum pipe size, 2-1/4-inch maximum hull thickness, and 3 x 4-inch strainer dimensions. This size suits smaller raw-water pickups where space around the intake is limited.
- 0065DP5PLB: 3/4-inch maximum pipe size, 2-3/16-inch maximum hull thickness, and 3 x 4-inch strainer dimensions. This version fits mid-size intake plumbing while keeping the same footprint as the smaller option.
- 0065DP6PLB: 1-inch maximum pipe size, 2-1/2-inch maximum hull thickness, and 3 x 4-inch strainer dimensions. This option supports a larger intake line without increasing the strainer footprint.
- 0065DP7PLB: 1-1/4-inch maximum pipe size, 3-inch maximum hull thickness, and 3-1/4 x 4-1/4-inch strainer dimensions. This is the largest size in the group and has a larger strainer face to match the larger intake.
Installation and fit
Match the selected variant to the intake pipe size and measure the hull thickness at the mounting location before installation. The strainer mounts on the outside of the hull, so the surface should be fair, accessible, and suitable for proper bedding and fastening.
Because this is underwater hardware, installation should follow the vessel builder’s layout and accepted marine practice for thru-hull fittings, seacocks, bonding where applicable, and service access inside the boat.
Use cases on board
This strainer is a practical match for boats that use raw water for cooling or onboard equipment and need a bronze intake fitting at the hull. It is especially relevant for engine rooms, generator intakes, air conditioning intakes, and other below-waterline systems where debris protection at the pickup point matters.
Maintenance and care
Inspect the slots during haul-out and keep them clear of marine growth, paint buildup, and debris. A clean strainer face helps preserve intake flow and makes it easier to spot damage or fouling before it affects the connected system.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
