Overview
The Vimar 01910 is a surface-mounted electronic timer thermostat for ON/OFF control of heating and air-conditioning systems. It uses a 5(2) A 250 V~ change-over relay output and runs on 2 AA LR6 1.5 V batteries, so the thermostat itself does not need a mains feed at the mounting point. Daily and weekly scheduling is built in, with 15-minute programming steps for routine temperature changes through the week.
For boat interiors, this format makes sense when you want scheduled climate control in an enclosed cabin, saloon, or wheelhouse without pulling a separate supply to the thermostat position. The display shows ambient temperature, day, time, operating status, and the active daily profile. It also supports heating and cooling selection, adjustable hysteresis from 0.1 °C to 1 °C, and an antifreeze setting from +4 °C to +15 °C.
This is an interior-use control. The housing is IP30 and the stated operating temperature is 0 °C to +40 °C, so it belongs in dry spaces away from spray, washdowns, and exposed helm positions.

Variants
This thermostat is offered in three color configurations.
The function, programming format, relay rating, battery supply, and surface-mount format stay the same across the range. The visible difference between variants is the housing color.
- VM01910.14: Color Anthracite. A darker finish that suits interiors with dark switch frames, trim, or paneling.
- VM01910.20: Color Silver. A neutral metallic look that works well with brushed fittings and modern cabin finishes.
- VM01910: Color White. A clean finish for light cabin liners, white bulkheads, and standard interior wall surfaces.
Installation and placement
The thermostat is intended for surface mounting at about 1.5 m above floor level where it can read the room temperature properly. On board, that usually means a cabin bulkhead or enclosed living area rather than a spot near companionways, direct sun, galley heat, vents, or doors that open often. Those locations can distort the temperature reading and make the schedule less useful in day-to-day use.
The base has four fixing slots for direct wall mounting with 6 mm screws and wall plugs, or for mounting to inset boxes with 60 mm or 83.5 mm screw centres. It should be installed in a dry, low-dust area.
Electrical and system integration
This unit is meant to switch the control side of a climate system, not to power the heating or cooling equipment directly. It can be used on control circuits for applications such as burners, circulation pumps, air-conditioning control circuits, solenoid valves, and motor-operated valves when the circuit matches the relay rating and the system layout. On a boat, that makes it relevant for enclosed accommodation spaces with a heater or air-conditioning setup that accepts a simple switched thermostat input.
The thermostat itself operates on 3 V d.c. from two AA batteries and battery life is rated up to one year. Because the control electronics are battery powered, low battery condition matters for continuity of operation, especially on boats left unattended between trips.
Use on board
This is a good match for boats that need scheduled cabin temperature control in an enclosed interior without adding a power feed to the thermostat location. It suits cruisers, passagemakers, and liveaboard setups where the heating or air-conditioning system already has a compatible control circuit. It is less suitable for open cockpit, flybridge, or deck locations where moisture and weather exposure are part of normal use.
