Overview

The Simrad 000-13779-001 is an XSONIC SS175M stainless steel thru-hull transducer with a fixed 20 degree Tilted Element and a 9-pin connector for compatible CHIRP sonar ports.

It runs Medium CHIRP from 85 to 135 kHz at 1 kW, with depth and water-temperature sensing built into the housing. Medium-band CHIRP is a practical choice when you want clear fish and structure returns in mid to deeper water without narrowing the coverage as much as high frequency.

The housing mounts close to flush on the outside of the hull, and the internal tilt keeps the element level when installed on hull deadrise between 16 and 24 degrees.

Key features
  • 1 kW single-band Medium CHIRP element (85 to 135 kHz)
  • Fixed 20 degree Tilted Element corrects for 16 to 24 degree hull deadrise without a fairing block
  • Depth plus fast-response water-temperature sensing at the transducer
  • Medium-band beamwidth 16 to 11 degrees with a maximum depth rating of 457 m (1,500 ft)
  • Stainless steel thru-hull housing with a low-profile exterior
  • Black 9-pin connector with 10 m (33 ft) cable
  • Installation hole size: 95 mm (3-3/4 in) for fiberglass or wood hulls, 105 mm (4-1/8 in) for metal hulls
Compatibility and fit

This is the 20 degree version of the SS175M, intended for hull bottoms that measure roughly 16 to 24 degrees of deadrise at the mounting location. If the deadrise is outside that range, the element will not sit level and performance can drop.

The stainless housing is suitable for fiberglass, wood, aluminum, and steel hulls. The required cutout depends on hull material, and metal hulls use the larger 105 mm (4-1/8 in) hole size, so measure before committing to the location.

Installation and setup

Because it is a thru-hull, the inside clearance matters as much as the outside. Make sure there is room for the stem and nut, and that you can tighten it square to the hull without interference from stringers, tanks, or liners.

Pick a spot that stays in clean water flow when the boat is on plane and that is away from steps, strakes, intakes, and trailer bunks. The stem uses a 3-3/4 in - 4 thread, and the sealing surface should be bedded with a marine sealant appropriate for your hull material.

Sonar integration

The attached cable terminates in a 9-pin plug. If your display or sonar module uses a different transducer port, an adapter may be required. Confirm that your sonar source supports 1 kW CHIRP and the Medium band (85 to 135 kHz) so the transducer can be driven correctly.

Use on board

This transducer is a good match for anglers and cruisers who spend time in shallow through mid-depth water and want returns that stay readable as speed comes up. Medium CHIRP also works well when you are looking for bottom detail around structure without switching between separate low and high elements.

Maintenance and care

Check the exterior face for marine growth and clean it with mild soap and a soft pad. Periodically inspect the cable run for chafe, and keep tight bends out of the cable near the connector.

If you bottom paint the hull, avoid getting heavy paint build-up on the acoustic face unless the coating is specifically approved for transducer use.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
