Overview

The Simrad 44172260 is a yellow SimNet joiner with two 5-pin male ends that couples two SimNet cables with female ends. It is a simple inline connector used to extend a run, bridge a break between two cables, or tidy up a network install when you already have the right cable lengths on hand.

This version is without a terminator, so it is meant for mid-network connections, not for ending a backbone. It does not add any electronics or conversion, it is strictly a physical join between SimNet connectors.

Key features
  • Two 5-pin male SimNet ends for joining two SimNet cables that have female connectors
  • Inline joiner format for extending a cable run without adding a tee or extra drop point
  • Without terminator, so it does not act as a network end cap
  • Useful for repairs and refits when an existing SimNet cable run needs to be lengthened
  • Matches SimNet connector style and keying to help prevent accidental mis-mating
  • Not a fit for NMEA 2000 Micro-C connectors without the correct SimNet to Micro-C adapter
Compatibility and fit

This joiner is for SimNet cabling that uses the 5-pin SimNet connector. It is the right part when both cables you are joining have female SimNet ends, such as linking two extension cables or connecting two female-ended sections during a refit.

If your boat is wired with NMEA 2000 Micro-C, this joiner will not plug in directly. In mixed networks, use the appropriate adapter at the SimNet and Micro-C transition points, and keep the rest of the run consistent with the connector style already installed.

Installation and setup

Power down the network before making changes. Align the keyed connectors, push the joiner fully home, and make sure the connection is seated before you re-secure cabling.

On a boat, cable connections last longer when they are supported and kept out of standing water. Leave a little service loop, avoid tight bends right at the connector, and mount or tie the join area so it is not hanging on the cable ends behind the dash or inside a locker.

Use on board

This is handy when you need extra reach between the nav station and helm, when you are extending a run to an additional instrument, or when you are reconnecting two SimNet cables after moving equipment during a refit. It is a good match for boats that already have a SimNet backbone and need a clean way to join two female-ended SimNet cables without changing the network layout.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
