Overview

The Simrad 000-12187-001 is a dedicated 16-inch fishfinder with an integrated single-channel Broadband Sounder and CHIRP sonar, built around a 1366 x 768 widescreen display.

It runs on 12 or 24 VDC power (10.8 to 31.2 V DC), draws about 20 W, and carries an IPX7 water-resistance rating for installs where spray and washdowns are normal.

The sonar output is rated at 1 kW RMS and can show bottom and targets down to 3,000 m (10,000 ft) when the transducer and conditions allow, which makes it a solid fit for boats that spend real time offshore as well as inshore fishing rigs that want a big, readable sonar history.

Key features
  • 16-inch LED-backlit color TFT LCD with 1366 x 768 resolution and 400 cd/m2 brightness.
  • Integrated single-channel Broadband Sounder plus single-channel CHIRP sonar in one dedicated display.
  • CHIRP frequency bands: 28-38 kHz, 40-60 kHz, 85-145 kHz, and 130-210 kHz.
  • Broadband frequencies: 28 kHz, 38 kHz, 50 kHz, 83 kHz, and 200 kHz.
  • 3,000 m (10,000 ft) maximum depth capability when paired with an appropriate transducer.
  • Blue 7-pin echo port for many Simrad and Airmar transducers, with adapter options for other transducer wiring.
  • Ethernet plus NMEA 2000 and dual NMEA 0183 for sharing data with chartplotters and other onboard electronics.
  • HDMI output for mirroring the fishfinder screen to a second display at another station.
  • SD card reader for software updates, file handling, and backups.
Installation and setup

You can mount the unit on a bracket for easy viewing and service access, or panel mount it for a clean helm layout. Leave clearance behind the unit for cable bends and for locking connector collars, and route wiring with drip loops so water cannot track into the plugs.

At the dock, take a few minutes to confirm your transducer selection, sonar source settings, and network setup before heading out. Once underway, the keypad and rotary knob make it easier to adjust common sonar settings without leaning on touch controls in wet conditions.

Transducer and sonar matching

The built-in sounder connects through the 7-pin blue transducer port. That plug style is common on many Simrad and Airmar transducers, and adapter cables can bridge to other connector types when you are refitting an existing installation.

Frequency support spans both fixed Broadband options (28, 38, 50, 83, and 200 kHz) and CHIRP bands (28-38, 40-60, 85-145, and 130-210 kHz). Matching the transducer to the depths you fish and the hull style on your boat matters more than any menu setting.

Networking and station layouts

Ethernet lets the fishfinder share sonar and integrate with other Simrad displays on the network, which is useful when you want a dedicated sonar screen at the helm and keep your main display focused on chart, radar, or engine data. The HDMI output adds an option for a mirrored view at a second station without installing another full fishfinder.

NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 connections make it straightforward to pull in heading, position, and other sensor data so the sonar view and waypoint marking workflow stays consistent across the boat.

Maintenance and care

Rinse salt off the front bezel and screen with fresh water and wipe with a proper screen cloth. Keep the media port door clean so salt crystals do not build up around the card slot, and use the sun cover when the boat sits to help protect the bezel from UV exposure.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
