Overview
The Simrad SIMKIT-2 is a SimNet network kit used to finish an autopilot installation when you need the core cabling, power, and termination parts in one box.
It includes a SimNet 7-prong T-joiner, SimNet network power with termination, and two SimNet extension cables (5 m and 2 m) so you can route the backbone and drops cleanly between the helm, nav station, and electronics locker.
An AT10 converter is included to bridge NMEA 0183 data onto SimNet, which helps when you are keeping NMEA 0183 equipment in the system while adding SimNet-based autopilot components.
Key features
- Uses SimNet 7-prong connectors throughout the kit for SimNet-based autopilot and instrument networks
- Two termination points included: a termination plug plus a power cable that incorporates a terminator
- Includes 5 m and 2 m SimNet cables for longer runs and cleaner routing through a console or cabin
- AT10 two-way converter for passing NMEA 0183 data between SimNet devices and NMEA 0183 equipment
- Protection plugs (3) for unused SimNet ports so open connectors are not left exposed
- Useful for building a small SimNet backbone for an autopilot install or expanding an existing SimNet network

Compatibility and fit
All cabling and connectors in this kit are SimNet 7-prong. Check that the devices you are connecting use SimNet, or plan on the correct adapter cables if your boat is wired with a different connector format.
Installation and setup
Plan the SimNet backbone path first, then place the T-joiner where you need an additional connection point. Termination belongs at the two ends of the backbone; this kit provides both termination pieces so you can close out the network without leaving an end open.
Route the cables where they will not chafe, avoid tight bends near connectors, and support the harness so vibration and pounding do not load the plugs over time.
Network and data integration
The AT10 converter is used when you need SimNet to exchange data with devices that still communicate over NMEA 0183. Plan for the correct NMEA 0183 wiring and configuration on the non-SimNet side so the right sentences are available to the network.
Who it fits
This kit is a good match for new installs and refits where a SimNet-based autopilot is being added and the boat needs the backbone pieces, termination, and a couple of longer cables to reach the mounting locations. It also fits mixed systems where NMEA 0183 equipment is staying onboard and needs a clean bridge into SimNet.
