Overview

The Simrad 24005894 is a SimNet termination plug that finishes a SimNet network backbone so the bus stays stable and devices keep sharing data normally.

It has a built-in termination resistor and is intended for use at the end of a SimNet backbone. A proper backbone is terminated at both ends, so this is commonly used as one of the two end terminators on the network. The plug is IP66 rated, which suits typical helm and console installations where spray and washdowns happen.

It meets NMEA 2000 standards, making it a fit for SimNet-based NMEA 2000 networks that use SimNet cabling and connectors.

Key features
  • Built-in termination resistor for correct SimNet backbone termination
  • Used at the ends of the network backbone (one terminator per end)
  • IP66 rated sealing for exposure to spray and washdowns
  • Meets NMEA 2000 standards for SimNet-based network installs
  • Slim, plug-and-play terminator that connects directly to SimNet fittings
Installation and setup

Shut down network power before changing backbone components. Identify the two physical ends of the SimNet backbone and fit a termination plug to each open backbone connector at those ends. If you extend the backbone, move the terminator to the new end point so the network remains terminated correctly.

Keep terminators on the backbone ends, not on device drop leads. When a network acts intermittent, a missing terminator or a terminator placed on a drop cable is one of the first things to check.

Compatibility and fit

This plug is for SimNet connector style networks. It is used on SimNet installations commonly found across Simrad, B&G, and Lowrance systems that are wired with SimNet backbone parts.

On-board use notes

This is a good match for refits and expansions where a backbone gets opened up to add a chartplotter, autopilot components, AIS, sensors, or a gateway and the network needs to behave the same at the dock and underway. Keeping the backbone properly terminated helps prevent devices from dropping off the bus when the boat is vibrating or the electronics are under load.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
