Overview
The Garmin BlueChart Great Britain, Northeast Coast is an electronic chart region package for compatible Garmin chartplotters, covering waters from the Isle of Lewis to Bridlington Harbour, plus areas like Gairloch, the Shetland Islands, Edinburgh, and North Sea offshore charts.
Both BlueChart g3 and BlueChart g3 Vision versions use integrated Garmin and Navionics chart data and support Auto Guidance route suggestions on compatible devices. Mapping layers can include depth range shading, shallow water shading, and 1-foot contours in supported areas, which helps when you want clearer bottom detail around tight approaches, channels, and fishing structure.
This chart is available either on preprogrammed microSD/SD media or as a download that installs to a microSD/SD card using Garmin Express. In normal use, the chart card stays in the plotter while you are navigating, so plan your card slot usage if you also run other chart regions.
Key features
- Great Britain, Northeast Coast coverage: Isle of Lewis to Bridlington Harbour, including Gairloch, Shetland Islands, Edinburgh, North Sea offshore charts, Caledonian Canal, Loch Linnhe, and Loch Ness
- Integrated Garmin and Navionics chart content for detailed coastal navigation and planning
- Auto Guidance route suggestions based on user-entered depth and overhead clearance on compatible chartplotters
- Depth range shading and shallow water shading support for easier hazard awareness and depth targeting
- 1-foot contours in supported areas for more precise bottom detail and tighter situational awareness near structure
- BlueChart g3 Vision adds extra visual layers such as satellite imagery, aerial photos of ports and harbours, and 3D MarinerEye and FishEye views (feature support depends on the chartplotter)
- Offered as an SD card option or a download option, depending on how you prefer to manage chart media
Variants
This chart region is offered in multiple configurations so you can match the chart type and delivery format to your Garmin setup.
The main differences are BlueChart version (g3 Vision versus standard g3) and format (preprogrammed SD card versus download to a microSD/SD card). The coverage area remains Great Britain, Northeast Coast, with region code VEU003R for g3 Vision and HXEU003R for standard g3.
- 010-C0762-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, SD Card. Preprogrammed chart media for chartplotters that read charts from a card slot.
- 010-D0397-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, Download. Installs to a microSD/SD card using Garmin Express for use in a registered chartplotter.
- 010-C0762-20: BlueChart g3, SD Card. Standard g3 charting for the same region when you do not need the added g3 Vision imagery layers.
- 010-D0348-00: BlueChart g3, Download. Download delivery for the standard g3 version, installed to a microSD/SD card through Garmin Express.
Compatibility and fit
Make sure your Garmin chartplotter supports BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision chart formats and has a microSD/SD card slot available. If you are using the g3 Vision version, confirm your device supports the extra g3 Vision layers, since some features can vary by model and software.
Installation and setup
For SD card versions, insert the chart card into the chartplotter and select the chart from the chart menu on the display. For download versions, the chart is installed to a microSD/SD card with Garmin Express, then the card is inserted into the chartplotter for use on the water. One chart is typically installed per microSD/SD card, so use a dedicated card for this region.
Use cases on board
This chart region suits skippers running UK and near-UK coastal passages along northeast Scotland and northeast England, as well as routes that include the Shetlands and North Sea offshore legs. It also works well for fishing boats that want contour detail and shading tools to help interpret bottom structure and depth changes around banks and channels.
Maintenance and care
Keep chart media dry and free of salt residue, and avoid handling the contacts with wet hands. Store the card in a protective case when it is not in the plotter, especially if it is being moved between boats or between helm stations.
