Overview
The Hella Marine 959073201 is a recessed LED courtesy strip lamp for 24V DC boats, using white LEDs behind a clear lens for clean step and walkway lighting. It draws about 2W and is sealed to IP6K7 and IP6K9K, so it holds up in lockers, companionways, cockpits, and other areas that see moisture and washdowns.
This is a two-hole recess mount light with a long, slim footprint (about 265 mm overall length) and a pre-wired 2.5 m cable to make routing back to a switch straightforward.
Key features
- 24V DC, about 2W power draw for low electrical load
- IP6K7 and IP6K9K sealing for dust protection, temporary immersion, and high-pressure washdowns
- Reverse polarity protection to help protect the light if wiring is accidentally swapped
- Two-hole recess mount format with a slim bar shape (about 265 mm long and 33 mm wide)
- Approx. 237.5 mm mounting hole spacing center-to-center for layout checks before drilling
- PMMA lens material that stands up to UV exposure and common cleaning chemicals
- Pre-wired with 2.5 m of cable to reduce the need for splices in damp areas
- RFCommSafe design to avoid interference with onboard communications and electronics
Installation and fit
Plan the mounting location so the light can sit flush and the back of the housing has room behind the panel. With an overall length of about 265 mm and hole spacing around 237.5 mm, it works well on steps, bulkheads, and under-seat faces where a long, low-profile light looks tidy. Allow roughly 25.5 mm of depth behind the mounting surface for the body.
In wet areas, keep the sealing surface clean and route the cable with a drip loop so water does not track into the wiring run. Use tinned marine-grade connections and support the cable so vibration does not work-harden the conductors over time.
Electrical and system integration
Wire the lamp to a switched 24V DC circuit with appropriate circuit protection for the wire size and run length. Light output drops as input voltage is reduced below its operating voltage, which can be useful if your boat uses analogue voltage-reduction dimming on courtesy circuits.
Use on board
This style of strip light is a good match for 24V cruising and commercial-style electrical systems where you want low-draw courtesy lighting that can handle routine washdowns. Common placements include companionway steps, cockpit footwells, engine room access steps, and storage lockers where you want light right where you are standing without taking up much space.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
