Overview
The Hella Marine 980500441 is a Slim Line round LED courtesy lamp with a white light output and a white plastic rim for clean, low-level lighting around the boat. It runs on a 12V DC system and draws 1W, which keeps electrical load low for overnight use at anchor or on long dockside weekends.
The housing and rim are UV and impact-resistant plastic, and the lamp is sealed to an IP67 level for wet locations and washdowns. It fits a 50 mm (1.96 in) cutout with a shallow 13 mm (0.51 in) mounting depth, and the outside diameter with the plastic rim is 75 mm (2.95 in).
Key features
- White LED courtesy lighting with a round white plastic rim for a tidy finished look
- Fits a 50 mm (1.96 in) cutout with a 13 mm (0.51 in) mounting depth for tight spaces behind liners and panels
- IP67 sealed for exterior steps, cockpits, lockers, and other splash-prone areas
- 1W draw on a 12V DC circuit to keep house-bank consumption low
- UV and impact-resistant plastic construction for vibration and day-to-day knocks on board
- Pre-wired lead for straightforward connections behind the mounting surface
- Polarity-sensitive wiring: reverse polarity will stop the light from turning on, but it will operate normally once corrected
- Fuse the circuit at 2A maximum for proper protection
What's included
- Round LED courtesy lamp with white plastic rim
- Surface mounting ring
- Three stainless steel mounting screws
- Mounting gasket
Installation and setup
Mount the lamp on a flat surface with the gasket in place, then fasten it using the screw holes. For a surface install, the mounting ring lets you finish the job without having to recess the rim into the panel, which is helpful on thin cockpit liners and headliners.
The mounting screw pattern uses a 57 mm (2.24 in) pitch circle diameter, and the 50 mm cutout provides clearance for the lamp body when you want a flush look.
Electrical and system integration
Plan wiring like any other onboard low-current lighting circuit: keep splices sealed, support the cable so it does not chafe, and place the fuse where it protects the feed. If the light does not illuminate after installation, check polarity at the leads before troubleshooting further.
Where it fits on board
This style of courtesy light works well at the base of companionway steps, under toe-kicks, inside cockpit coamings, and in storage lockers where you want guidance lighting without glare. The white output is a straightforward match for general onboard visibility when you are moving around after dark.
Maintenance and care
Rinse off salt and wipe the lens occasionally to keep the light pattern even. Avoid harsh solvents on the plastic rim and lens, and re-check fasteners during routine onboard inspections if the light is mounted in a high-vibration area.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
