Overview

The Hella Marine 998541001 is a halogen deck and spreader floodlight that throws a wide beam for close-range work around the boat. It runs on 12V DC and uses two 55W halogen bulbs for 110W total output.

The light aperture measures 145 x 83 mm, and the overall housing is about 159 x 120 x 106 mm (W x H x D), which helps when checking clearance under a hardtop, arch, or cabin overhang. The housing is made from white fiber-reinforced plastic with a front lip that shields the glass lens, and the mounting hardware is 316 stainless steel.

This style of floodlight suits boats that need strong deck lighting for docking, rigging, and cockpit work and have the electrical headroom for a 110W halogen load.

Key features
  • 12V DC halogen floodlight with two 55W bulbs (110W total)
  • Twin Free Form reflector setup spreads light across a wide area at close range
  • Light aperture: 145 x 83 mm
  • Approx. overall size: 159 x 120 x 106 mm (W x H x D)
  • Housing made from white fiber-reinforced plastic with a front edge that helps protect the lens
  • Glass lens and 316 stainless steel mounting hardware
  • Adjustable head with up to 115 degrees of rotation for aiming
Installation and setup

Mount the bracket to a flat, solid surface where you can aim the beam onto the working area without shining back into the helm. Leave clearance so the head can be adjusted through its range, and keep the face of the lamp clear of lines and canvas.

After the first few runs, re-check fasteners and aim, especially if the lamp is mounted on an arch or hardtop where vibration can settle hardware.

Electrical and system integration

Plan the circuit around a 110W load on a 12V system, with a switch and overcurrent protection sized to match the wiring and run length. Use marine-grade tinned wire and route it away from hot engine components and moving gear.

Halogen bulbs run hot in use, so allow the lamp to cool before handling the lens area or servicing the bulbs.

Compatibility and fit

This is a surface-mount floodlight for exterior mounting locations such as hardtops, arches, masts, and cockpit structures. The 159 mm width and 106 mm depth are the key checks when fitting near antennas, rigging, or under an overhang.

Maintenance and care

Rinse salt off the housing and bracket after washdowns, and periodically inspect the mounting hardware for tightness. If the beam output drops or becomes uneven, check the bulbs and clean the glass lens to remove buildup.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
