Overview
The Hella Marine 996476512 is a handheld LED search light with a close-range beam pattern for working around the boat at night. It produces 3500 lumens while drawing 29W, and it supports 12V or 24V systems (2.42A at 12V DC, 1.21A at 24V DC).
It powers through a 3.5m spiral cable with a cigarette plug, which keeps slack under control when you are moving around the cockpit or foredeck. The integrated trigger switch on the handle gives quick on-off control, including the ability to signal with short bursts.
The die-cast aluminium housing uses a CoroSafe coating, and the light is completely sealed to IP6K9K and IP6K8 for use in wet conditions, spray, and washdowns.
Key features
- Close-range beam pattern that spreads light across decks, cockpits, and near-field targets
- 3500 lumen output with 29W power draw
- 12V and 24V compatibility (2.42A at 12V DC, 1.21A at 24V DC)
- 3.5m spiral cable with cigarette plug for portable use from an onboard accessory socket
- Completely sealed to IP6K9K and IP6K8 for wet marine environments
- Die-cast aluminium housing with CoroSafe coating
- Electronics with reverse polarity, spike, and over-voltage protection
- Integrated trigger switch and handle for controlled, momentary use
Installation and setup
Plan where the light will be stored and how the spiral lead will route so it does not snag on hardware or get pinched by hatches. If the accessory socket is exposed, keep the plug connection out of standing water and spray when the light is in use.
On boats that see heavy vibration, a simple stow point near the helm or companionway helps prevent the housing and cable from being knocked around when underway.
Electrical and system integration
This unit is made for 12V and 24V DC supplies and tolerates the voltage swings you see on working boats and when batteries are low. Use a properly protected accessory circuit sized for the load, and confirm the socket and wiring can support a 29W device.
Materials and corrosion resistance
The combination of a die-cast aluminium body and CoroSafe coating suits saltwater use when the light is rinsed down after trips. The sealed construction helps keep water out of the electronics when the light is used on deck and then stowed away damp.
Use cases on board
A close-range search light is a good match for docking work, picking up mooring lines, checking fenders and cleats, lighting up the foredeck, and scanning nearby water when maneuvering at night. It also works well for quick inspections in lockers and lazarettes where you need strong light without installing a fixed fixture.
Maintenance and care
Rinse off salt and grime, then let the light dry before long-term stowage. Periodically check the spiral cable and plug for wear, and keep the plug contacts clean so the connection stays solid in a damp marine environment.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
