Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 8409 is a 120V AC main and branch circuit breaker panel with one 30A double-pole main breaker, three 15A single-pole branch breakers, a 0 to 150V AC voltmeter, and a 0 to 50A AC ammeter with coil. It gives a boat a compact way to bring shore power or another 120V AC source into a single panel and split it into three protected branch circuits.
This panel comes fully pre-wired with hot, neutral, and safety ground buses already in place, so the wiring layout is straightforward when replacing an older panel or adding a separate AC distribution point. A red reverse-polarity indicator helps spot wiring faults, and each circuit position has backlit labels plus an ON indicator LED, which makes the panel easier to read when cabin lighting is low.
At 7.50 x 5.25 inches, it fits where space is limited but you still want metering and a proper AC main. The panel bus is rated at 50A, so it suits smaller 120V AC distribution setups that need a clear main disconnect and a few branch circuits without moving to a much larger panel.
Key features
- 120V AC panel layout with one 30A double-pole main breaker and three 15A single-pole branch breakers
- Built-in AC metering with a 0 to 150V voltmeter and a 0 to 50A ammeter with coil
- Pre-wired hot, neutral, and safety ground buses reduce installation time and keep the wiring layout organized
- Red reverse-polarity LED gives a clear warning if shore power wiring is incorrect
- Backlit circuit label positions and ON indicator LEDs make circuit status easier to read underway or at the dock
- 50A panel bus rating supports compact 120V AC distribution systems on boats that do not need a larger branch count
- Traditional metal panel format works as an extension to an existing panel or as a full replacement
Compatibility and fit
This panel is for 120V AC systems, so it belongs on boats wired for that service standard. It is a practical match when the boat needs one AC main and three branch circuits for common onboard loads such as receptacles, a battery charger, or other dedicated 120V AC equipment, provided the branch circuit planning matches the installed breaker values and the vessel’s wiring design.
The compact face size helps when refitting a small electrical area, and the built-in meters save space compared with adding separate instruments nearby. For boats that already use Blue Sea Systems A-Series style panels, it also keeps a familiar control layout and white toggle appearance.
Installation and setup
The fully pre-wired buses shorten the setup work because the main internal distribution is already arranged at the panel. That matters on refit jobs where access behind the helm, nav station, or electrical locker is tight and every extra termination adds time.
This panel makes the most sense in a protected mounting location used for the boat’s AC distribution, where the operator can read the meters and breaker status easily. The reverse-polarity indicator and the labeled, lighted circuit positions are especially useful on boats that connect and disconnect shore power often, including cruising boats, dockside liveaboards, and boats with a small but active AC load list.

International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
