Overview
The Vimar Plana series is a 1-module cover plate used to finish a single Plana switch, socket, or data insert so the installation looks clean and complete on a bulkhead, liner, or panel.
The plate face measures 80 x 80 mm with a depth of 9 mm, and it is rated IP00, so it belongs in dry, protected locations rather than areas that see washdowns or direct spray.
Finish and feel vary by version, with options in technopolymer, metal, and solid wood, plus Plana Up Design styles for a different look while staying in the same 1-module format.
Key features
- 1-module cover plate format for Vimar Plana installations.
- 80 x 80 mm face and 9 mm depth for a consistent fit across a panel or bulkhead.
- Clamp mounting and support for horizontal or vertical orientation.
- Label space available for circuit or function identification.
- Suitable for built-in installation, wall duct runs, and subfloor duct box applications where the Plana system is used.
- IP00 rating with no water ingress protection, so placement and enclosure choice matter on board.
- Halogen-free construction across the range.
Variants
This product is offered in a wide range of finishes and materials under the 14641 and 14641U family codes.
Across the range, what changes is the visible finish and the plate material, including technopolymer in standard, matt, and Reflex colors, metal options such as brushed aluminium, pearl finishes, and metallized colors, and selected solid wood finishes. Some variants are labeled Plana Up Design, which distinguishes the styling while keeping the same 1-module cover-plate role.
Compatibility and fit
This is a 1-module Plana cover plate, so the underlying insert and its support should be the Plana 1-module format. It is commonly paired with 1-module frames such as Vimar 14600 or 14601, depending on how the installation is built up behind the panel.
Because boats often mix surface panels, liners, and furniture faces, it is worth confirming you have enough flat area for the 80 x 80 mm face and that the cutout and support behind the panel match the Plana module system.
Installation and setup
Install the wiring device and its support first, then clamp the cover plate onto the frame so the edges sit flush. On a boat, take a moment to make sure the support is solid and does not flex with vibration, especially on thin liners or removable panels.
If the location can see moisture, plan for a protected mounting position or an appropriate enclosure, since IP00 does not provide splash or washdown protection.
Use on board
These plates are commonly used for interior switching and outlets at nav stations, cabins, saloons, galleys, and other sheltered areas where you want the visible trim to match the surrounding joinery or hardware finish.
They are a good match for refits that standardize on the Plana 1-module system and want consistent-looking plates across different zones while keeping the practical needs of marine mounting surfaces in mind.
Maintenance and care
Wipe with a soft cloth and mild cleaner. Avoid aggressive solvents, especially on technopolymer finishes and lacquered or anodized surfaces.
For wood versions, keep the area dry and clean up condensation quickly so the finish stays stable over time.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
