Overview
The Attwood Marine 1364A3 is a hull-mounted cowl ventilator for 3" I.D. wire-supported ventilation hose. It uses a chrome-plated die-cast Perma-Plate® ZAMAK cowl with a non-corrosive plastic hose flange, and the outer body measures 5-5/16" wide x 6" long x 2-1/4" high.
This vent can be used as either an intake or an exhaust point and meets ABYC H-2 cross-sectional area requirements. The neck extends 1" below deck, and the hose connection is arranged so the ducting twists into the bottom to form a raised water barrier, which is useful in compartments that need steady passive airflow without opening the hull to a straight water path.
It is a straightforward fit for boats already set up around 3" ventilation ducting, including bilge ventilation runs, enclosed lockers, and below-deck spaces where air needs to move without adding powered equipment at the vent itself.
Key features
- Fits 3" I.D. wire-supported ventilation hose
- Chrome-plated die-cast Perma-Plate® ZAMAK cowl with a non-corrosive plastic hose flange
- Flexible flange screws onto the hose and the vent snaps onto the flange
- Works for intake or exhaust ventilation and meets ABYC H-2 cross-sectional area requirements
- Outer dimensions are 5-5/16" x 6" x 2-1/4", with the neck extending 1" below deck
- Mounting cutout is 3-1/4" to 3-1/2" and the vent installs with #8 screws
Compatibility and fit
This model is sized for ventilation systems built around 3" hose, so the main fit check is the duct size and the available clearance behind the mounting surface. The 1" neck drop below deck matters in tight cavities, especially where the hose needs to turn immediately after the connection.
It suits refit work on runabouts, center consoles, small cruisers, and similar boats where a cowl vent is used to feed or extract air from an enclosed area. It also makes sense when the installation needs a finished metal look on the outside while keeping the hose interface in plastic at the back of the vent.
Installation and setup
The vent is built to fasten as a complete unit from either inside or outside the hull. For a clean install, check that the mounting surface can accept a 3-1/4" to 3-1/2" cutout and that there is enough room for the hose flange and duct run behind the panel.
Because the hose flange is separate from the cowl, the duct connection is easier to manage than one-piece vent bodies in cramped spaces. That layout is useful when working through an access hatch, inside a locker, or along the inside of a hull side where hand room is limited.
Materials and finish
The exposed cowl is chrome-plated die-cast ZAMAK, while the flange that carries the hose connection is plastic. This split construction keeps the visible side of the vent in metal and the hose connection in a material that does not discolor, which is a practical arrangement for boats that see frequent washdowns and regular service access.
