Overview
The Blue Sea Systems AC Toggle Source Selector [European] is a 230V AC two-source selector panel for boats that need a controlled way to feed one AC circuit from either of two power sources. It uses double pole AC main circuit breakers and a mechanical lockout slide so both sources cannot be connected at the same time.
This panel is built around practical AC source management rather than extra branch circuits. It has a 50A maximum panel amperage, hot, neutral and safety ground buses installed and pre-wired, a red reverse polarity indicator and green ON indication at the circuit positions. The panel face measures 3.75 in high by 5.25 in wide, making it compact enough for many cabin electrical panels, nav stations and protected helm locations.
Key features
- 230V AC selector panel for two AC sources feeding a common onboard AC circuit.
- Double pole AC main circuit breakers with a lockout slide to block simultaneous source connection.
- Available in 16A or 32A service ratings to match the vessel's AC inlet, wiring and protection plan.
- 50A maximum panel amperage with hot, neutral and safety ground buses installed and pre-wired.
- Red reverse polarity LED helps flag a wiring condition that should be checked before using shore power.
- Green ON indication LEDs show circuit status directly at the panel.
- Backlit label positions help the panel stay readable at night or in dim cabin spaces.
- 3.75 in by 5.25 in panel size works well for refits, panel additions and compact AC distribution layouts.
Variants
This product family is offered in four configurations. The differences are the AC service rating and the toggle color.
The shared panel layout is 230V AC with two-source selection, double pole breaker switching, a lockout slide, pre-wired AC buses, reverse polarity indication, ON indication LEDs and backlit label positions. The 16A and 32A versions should be matched to the boat's AC service rating and wiring plan.
- 8132: 16A service with white toggles. This configuration matches 230V AC systems using 16A double pole source protection and keeps a white-toggle appearance at the panel.
- 8161: 32A service with white toggles. This configuration supports a 32A AC service plan while keeping the same 230V AC two-source panel layout.
- 3132: 16A service with black toggles. It keeps the 16A rating while matching installations that use black toggle hardware.
- 3161: 32A service with black toggles. It keeps the 32A rating while matching panels with black toggles or older Blue Sea Systems layouts.
Installation and setup
This panel belongs on the AC distribution side of the boat and should be installed by a qualified marine electrician. The 230V AC rating needs to match the vessel's AC system, and the selected 16A or 32A breaker service needs to match the inlet, conductor sizing and downstream protection.
The lockout slide matters on boats because it helps prevent paralleling incompatible AC sources. That is especially important when switching between dockside power and an onboard AC source, where tying two live sources together can create a fault or damage equipment.
Compatibility and fit
The Traditional Metal Panel format can be used as an extension to an existing AC panel or as a replacement panel when the cutout, mounting space and wiring layout are compatible. The compact face size helps in refit work, but the installation still needs proper rear clearance, strain relief and protection from direct exposure where the boat's panel location requires it.
This product family is a good match for cruising boats, sailboats and powerboats with European 230V AC service that need a clear two-source transfer point instead of a rotary source selector. It is most useful where the operator needs source status, reverse-polarity indication and a physical lockout in one panel.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
