Overview
The Blue Sea Systems AC Main European is a 230V AC main circuit breaker panel for European-style boat AC systems. It combines the main AC ON/OFF switching function with circuit protection in one panel, giving the helm, cabin, or electrical locker a clear control point for incoming shore power or an onboard AC source.
The panel measures 2.63 in high by 3.75 in wide, or 66.8 mm by 95.25 mm, and weighs 0.51 lb, or 0.23 kg. Both amperage versions use a double pole main breaker, include a red reverse-polarity indicating LED, and have a safety ground screw on the back of the panel.
This is a practical fit for boats with 230V AC service where a compact AC main panel is needed near the shore-power inlet or at the main distribution location. The trip-free breaker cannot be held ON during a fault current condition, which helps keep the breaker acting as protection rather than just a switch.
Key features
- 230V AC main panel for European-style marine AC electrical systems.
- Available with either a 16A or 32A double pole main circuit breaker.
- Red reverse-polarity LED gives a clear warning when shore-power polarity is incorrect.
- Safety ground screw on the panel back supports proper AC grounding during installation.
- Combines AC switching and circuit protection in one panel, reducing the need for separate main switching hardware.
- Trip-free breaker action prevents the breaker from being held ON during a fault current condition.
- Panel size is 2.63 in x 3.75 in, making it suitable for tight marine electrical panels and retrofit work.
- Panel construction uses 0.125 in 5052-H32 aluminum alloy with a graphite color textured polyurethane finish.
Variants
This AC Main European panel is offered in two amperage configurations for different 230V AC service requirements.
The amperage rating changes between variants, while the 230V AC rating, red reverse-polarity indication, rear safety ground screw, panel size, and overall panel format remain the same.
- 8177: 16A double pole main breaker. This configuration is for vessels set up around a 16A 230V AC main service and includes the matching 16A A-Series main breaker.
- 8179: 32A double pole main breaker. This configuration is for vessels set up around a 32A 230V AC main service and includes the matching 32A A-Series main breaker.
Installation and fit
The panel should be mounted where both the front and back are protected from water. When it is used as the main shore-power disconnect breaker, the mounting location should be kept within the required distance from the shore-power inlet or the electrical attachment point of a permanently installed shore-power cord, unless additional protection is installed closer to the inlet.
It is not an ignition-protected panel, so it should not be installed in spaces where flammable vapors may collect, such as gasoline engine rooms, propane lockers, or battery compartments. All AC sources, including shore power, generators, and inverters, should be disconnected before installation or service.
Electrical integration
This panel is intended for 230V AC systems and uses a double pole breaker arrangement, which is important for European-style single-phase AC distribution on boats. The reverse-polarity indicator is especially useful at docks and marinas where shore-power wiring should be checked before energizing onboard AC circuits.
The panel is a good match for refits, compact distribution upgrades, and replacement work where the boat needs a dedicated AC main breaker panel without adding unnecessary branch circuits at the same location.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
