Overview

The Raymarine T70589 is an Axiom XL 16 and RVX1000 bundle for building a large-format navigation and sonar station around a 16-inch glass bridge multifunction display. It brings together the Axiom XL 16 display, RVX1000 3D CHIRP sonar module, GA200 external GPS antenna, RCR-SD card reader, external alarm module, alarm/video input cable, and LightHouse Charts North America chart card in one matched package.

The Axiom XL 16 runs on 12 V or 24 V DC systems, has an IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof rating, and uses a 15.6-inch IPS touchscreen with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 1300-nit illumination. The display supports networked helm layouts through three RayNet PoE Ethernet ports, HDMI input and output, NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, analog video input, and external storage through the included remote card reader.

The RVX1000 module adds RealVision 3D, CHIRP SideVision, CHIRP DownVision, low-power high-frequency CHIRP, and 1 kW dual-channel CHIRP sonar capability when paired with a compatible transducer selected separately. This makes the bundle a strong match for offshore fishing boats, cruising powerboats, and larger helm installations where charting, sonar, GPS, video, and alarms need to work together from one main display.

Installation and setup

This bundle suits a planned helm installation rather than a simple standalone chartplotter swap. The Axiom XL 16 can be flush mounted or surface mounted, and the included remote card reader is useful when the display face is built into a dash or glass bridge panel. Allow space behind the display for the cable bend and service access, especially when using RayNet, HDMI, power, NMEA, video, and alarm connections together.

The RVX1000 is a black box sonar module, so it can be mounted away from the display in a dry, accessible equipment area while the transducer wiring and network connection are routed to suit the boat. A compatible transducer is still required for sonar operation, so transducer selection should be matched to the hull type, mounting style, depth targets, and fishing use.

Compatibility and system integration

The Axiom XL platform works well as the center of a Raymarine network with radar, sonar modules, cameras, additional Axiom displays, autopilot integration, and vessel data. NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 support help it connect with common marine sensors and legacy equipment, while HDMI input and output allow the display to work with external screens or supported video sources.

For boats with a larger electronics plan, the value of this bundle is in having the display, sonar module, GPS antenna, card reader, alarm module, video/alarm cabling, and chart card grouped together.
