Overview
The Blue Sea Systems AC Main is a main-only circuit breaker panel for managing a boat’s 120V AC main feed from shore power or another onboard AC source. It combines switching and circuit protection in one panel, with white toggle operation and a red reverse-polarity indicating LED to help identify an unsafe AC connection before equipment is used.
This is a Traditional Metal Panel with a heavy 1/8 in 5052 aluminum alloy panel, a 2-part polyurethane slate gray finish, and a Mil-C-5541C or equivalent immersion undercoating for corrosion resistance. Both amperage versions are rated for 120V AC nominal service, with maximum ratings of 277V AC and 65V DC, and each panel weighs 0.51 lb.
The panel is a practical fit for refits, replacements, or compact AC distribution layouts where the vessel needs a dedicated main disconnect and breaker without branch circuits on the same face. A safety ground screw on the back of the panel supports proper AC panel grounding during installation.
Key features
- Main-only AC breaker panel for 120V AC boat electrical systems.
- Available with a 30A or 50A double-pole A-Series white toggle main breaker.
- Red reverse-polarity indicating LED helps alert the operator to an unsafe AC connection.
- Green 120V AC LED indicates when main power is on.
- Trip-free breaker design cannot be held in the on position during a fault current condition.
- Safety ground screw on the panel back supports proper grounding of the AC panel assembly.
- Heavy 1/8 in 5052 aluminum alloy panel with corrosion-resistant undercoating and a 2-part polyurethane slate gray finish.
Variants
This AC Main panel is offered in two amperage configurations for matching the vessel’s AC main service rating.
The amperage rating and the installed double-pole main breaker change between variants. The panel construction, LED functions, nominal voltage rating, and overall product style remain consistent across the range.
- 8077: Amperage 30A. This version uses a 30A double-pole A-Series white toggle main breaker and measures 3.75 in high by 2.63 in wide, which suits a 30A AC main service layout.
- 8079: Amperage 50A. This version uses a 50A double-pole A-Series white toggle main breaker and measures 2.63 in high by 3.75 in wide, which suits a 50A AC main service layout.
Installation and setup
Match the panel amperage to the boat’s AC main service and the rest of the installed AC system. The breaker rating should align with the shore power inlet, conductors, and downstream distribution design so the panel protects the circuit correctly.
Because this is an AC main panel, installation should follow marine AC wiring practices, with attention to line and neutral switching, grounding, reverse-polarity indication, and strain relief behind the panel. The compact face size makes it useful when replacing an older main panel or adding a dedicated AC main disconnect near an existing distribution area.
Compatibility and fit
This panel is for boats using a 120V AC main circuit and is not a branch breaker panel. It is most relevant for cruisers, fishing boats, and sailboats that need a main AC breaker point for shore power or an onboard AC source before power is distributed to individual loads.
The 30A and 50A versions are not interchangeable by appearance alone, so the amperage should be checked against the vessel’s existing inlet and electrical design before ordering. The white toggle actuator helps the panel match other current Blue Sea Systems white-switch panel layouts.
Materials and corrosion resistance
The panel face uses heavy 1/8 in 5052 aluminum alloy with an immersion undercoating for corrosion resistance under the finish. That construction is useful in cabin, helm, or electrical locker locations where humidity, salt air, and vibration are normal parts of service life on board.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
