Overview

The JL Audio Core RCA audio interconnect is a set of RCA signal cables offered in 2-channel or 4-channel versions, with lengths from 3 ft to 25 ft for routing low-level audio between a stereo source, DSP, and amplifiers on a boat.

They use OFC copper conductors with polyethylene dielectrics in a twisted-pair layout to help keep alternator whine and other interference out of the music when the cable run passes near power wiring. Molded connector bodies with machined brass connector elements and a small-diameter PVC jacket make it easier to snake through rigging tubes, consoles, and under-gunwale chases.

Key features
  • Choice of 2-channel (one stereo pair) or 4-channel (two stereo pairs) to match the number of preamp outputs you need to carry.
  • Length options from 3 ft up to 25 ft to suit short amp racks or long helm-to-bilge runs.
  • Twisted-pair construction with OFC copper conductors and polyethylene dielectrics to help reduce noise pickup around charging systems and other onboard electronics.
  • Molded RCA connector bodies with machined brass connector elements for a secure fit at the stereo, DSP, and amplifier.
  • Small-diameter PVC jacket that stays flexible for pulling through rigging tubes and tight chases.
  • Built for clean, low-level signal transfer in multi-amp and multi-zone audio layouts.
Variants

Lengths and channel counts vary across the range, so you can match the run on your boat and the number of RCA pairs you need to carry.

2-channel versions are offered in 3 ft, 6 ft, 9 ft, 12 ft, 18 ft, and 25 ft lengths. 4-channel versions are offered in 12 ft and 18 ft lengths.

Compatibility and fit

This interconnect uses standard RCA plugs for preamp-level audio. It is meant for line-level connections between a marine stereo, media receiver, DSP, or zone controller and amplifier RCA inputs, not for speaker outputs.

Channel count is about how many signals are carried in the same jacket: 2-channel covers a single left and right pair, while 4-channel carries two left and right pairs for front and rear zones or multiple sources.

Installation and routing on a boat

Plan the route before you pull cable. Keep RCA interconnects separated from high-current DC conductors for batteries, charging circuits, windlasses, and trim pumps, and cross power wiring at a right angle when paths have to meet. This helps limit noise and saves time later if you are chasing a hum.

Support the run so it does not vibrate or chafe, and leave a little service loop at the back of the head unit, processor, and amplifier so the connectors are not carrying the strain. If the path goes through bulkheads or metal hardware, use a grommet or conduit to protect the jacket.

Use cases on board

Common installs include running audio from a helm stereo down to an amplifier rack in a console or bilge area, or tying a processor into a multi-amp setup for cockpit and tower zones. The longer lengths help when the amps live far from the dash and you want to avoid splicing signal wiring.

This is a good match for boaters upgrading to external amplifiers or adding more zones where keeping preamp runs tidy and noise resistant matters.

Maintenance and care

Keep RCA ends away from standing water and wipe salt spray off connectors during routine stereo checks. If you ever hear intermittent audio, reseating the plugs and checking for corrosion at the jacks is a quick first step before digging deeper into the system.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
