Overview

The TACO Marine T10-7001VEL is a pair of telescoping aluminum shade poles for adding temporary shade support at the bow or stern using existing marine rod holders. Each pole telescopes from just over 44.6 in to 69.37 in tall, giving boat owners a practical way to support shade fabric over open deck areas, cockpits, sandbar setups, or lounging areas when the sun is high.

The poles are made from drawn and anodized aluminum tube, with a 1-1/2 in main tube and a 1-1/4 in inner tube. They install into deck-mounted rod holders using a 1/4 in rod holder pin, then work with shade fabric that is secured to the boat top and attached to the pole ends.

A nylon cleat is built in for line tension adjustment, and the tip eye bolt gives another option for securing fabric with a bungee-style clamping setup. The shade fabric and rod holders are not included, so this item is best matched to boats that already have compatible rod holders or are being outfitted with them.

Installation and setup

Setup is straightforward when the boat already has suitable rod holders in the intended mounting position. Insert the poles into the rod holders, attach the shade fabric to the boat top, connect the fabric to the pole ends, then extend the poles until the shade is sitting where it needs to be.

The poles can be used forward or aft, depending on the boat layout and where the rod holders are located. Before ordering, confirm rod holder placement, shade fabric size, line routing, and clearance around engines, antennas, outriggers, and other deck equipment.
