Overview
The JL Audio MBT is a weatherproof Bluetooth audio receiver family that adds wireless streaming to a boat or powersports sound system through line-level RCA outputs. Connection range is rated up to 35 ft (11 m), and audio bandwidth covers 20 Hz to 20 kHz (+/- 1 dB).
Both configurations are meant to feed an amplifier or a head unit with line-level/aux inputs, not to power speakers directly. Output level is 4V RMS, with operating voltage depending on version (10 to 16 VDC for the receiver-only unit, 8 to 16 VDC for the controller/receiver).
This is a solid fit for boats that already have an amp and speakers installed and just need a clean way to stream from a phone or tablet. The controller version also suits helms where physical volume and track buttons matter, especially when the streaming device stays stowed and dry.
Key features
- Bluetooth A2DP streaming with Qualcomm aptX-HD support and a rated connection range up to 35 ft (11 m).
- 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response (+/- 1 dB) for full-range music playback.
- Line-level RCA connections for amplifiers or aux/line inputs, with 4V RMS output level.
- Receiver-only configuration (MBT-RXv2): IPX7 water resistance rating, 10 to 16 VDC operation, one stereo RCA output, 1 A remote turn-on output, and a 2 A fuse value.
- Controller/receiver configuration (MBT-CRXv3): IP67 water resistance rating, 8 to 16 VDC operation, backlit helm control interface, and single-hole mounting with a threaded collar.
- MBT-CRXv3 adds two stereo zone outputs plus a dedicated subwoofer output (RCA) for multi-zone systems.
Variants
This product is offered in two configurations that share the same core job: getting Bluetooth audio into a line-level marine system.
The main differences are whether there is a dash controller, how many preamp outputs are available, and the water-resistance rating and operating voltage range.
- 010-03377-00 - Controller: No. MBT-RXv2 receiver-only module with one stereo RCA output and a 1 A remote turn-on output. Playback is controlled from the paired streaming device.
- 010-03378-00 - Controller: Yes. MBT-CRXv3 controller/receiver with backlit controls, two stereo zone outputs, and a subwoofer output (RCA). It keeps volume and track control at the helm while the streaming device stays out of the way.
Installation and setup
For the receiver-only MBT-RXv2, mount the module in a protected location close to the amplifier or the input you are feeding, then connect 10 to 16 VDC power and the RCA output to a line-level input. The remote output can be used to trigger an amplifier turn-on lead when the system needs a switched signal.
For the MBT-CRXv3, the control face installs through a single cutout and clamps using a threaded collar. An adaptor plate is included for front-mount installs, thicker panels, or situations where rear access is limited. Route wiring away from sharp edges and moving parts, then secure it so it cannot chafe under vibration.
Compatibility and fit
These units are line-level sources and require an amplifier, powered speakers with RCA inputs, or a stereo/head unit with an auxiliary or line-level input. They are not intended to drive loudspeakers directly.
Bluetooth range is rated up to 35 ft (11 m) and can drop when the receiver is buried behind metal, wiring looms, or closed compartments. On smaller boats, placing the unit closer to the cockpit or helm area often helps keep the connection steady.
Care and mounting environment
The housings are water-resistant for outdoor marine use, but they should not be mounted where they can sit submerged for long periods or take direct high-pressure spray. Keep connectors supported, keep wiring runs tidy, and avoid high-heat locations like engine compartments.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
