Overview

The Garmin 010-12833-10 is a handheld wireless autopilot remote that lets you engage, steer, and manage key autopilot functions from anywhere on the boat. It measures 152 x 52 x 32 mm (6 x 2 x 1 1/4 in.) and uses a sunlight-visible transflective MIP display with 240 x 240 resolution, so heading and status remain readable in glare.

It is rated IEC 60529 IPX7 for incidental immersion up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes, and it floats if it goes overboard. Power comes from two AA batteries (not included) with a typical battery life of about 240 hours.

For system fit, the remote must be paired with a helm control (such as a GHC 20 or GHC 50) or a compatible chartplotter that is on the same NMEA 2000 network as the autopilot system. Once paired, you can make one-degree course nudges, use step steering, and trigger programmed actions directly from the remote.

Key features
  • Pairs to a helm control or compatible chartplotter on the same NMEA 2000 network as the autopilot system
  • Gesture control support for heading hold and course corrections after compass calibration
  • One-degree heading adjustments and step steering, with the step-turn increment configurable from the connected helm control or chartplotter
  • Three programmable action keys plus a dedicated MOB key for quick access to assigned functions
  • IEC 60529 IPX7 water rating for incidental immersion up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes, and the remote floats for easier recovery
  • Runs on 2 AA batteries (not included) with about 240 hours of typical battery life
  • 2.4 GHz radio link (3.4 dBm nominal) and a compass-safe distance of 15 cm (6 in.)
Installation and setup

Battery installation is through the rear D-ring cover. Insert two AA cells with the correct polarity, then reseal the cover fully before heading out. Lithium AA batteries are a good match when you want longer runtime and steadier performance in cooler weather.

A cradle can be mounted where you want the remote to live when it is not in your hand. Use the cradle as a template, drill 3 mm (1/8 in.) pilot holes, and fasten it with the included screws.

Pairing is started from the helm control or chartplotter menus, then completed on the remote. If you plan to use gesture controls, calibrate the electronic compass outdoors and away from strong magnetic influence so pointing commands track cleanly.

Compatibility and fit

This remote is a good match for boats that already run a Garmin autopilot on a NMEA 2000 backbone and want control away from the wheel or pedestal. The remote communicates wirelessly with the paired helm control or chartplotter rather than using a wired network drop.

Use on board

It is particularly useful when you are moving around the cockpit, tending lines, or managing fishing gear and still want quick access to standby, small course changes, and programmed actions. Keep a proper lookout and be ready to take manual control whenever traffic, hazards, or close-quarters maneuvering require it.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
