Overview

The Blue Sea Systems UL-489 Circuit Breaker Raised Rocker is a double-pole AC circuit breaker for marine electrical panels that require UL-489 protection and a raised rocker actuator. It is rated for up to 250V AC, uses a magnetic hydraulic trip-free mechanism, and is offered in 30A and 50A versions for different branch circuit or panel requirements.

This breaker is suited to installations where UL-489 specifications are required, including Navy, Army, Coast Guard, and other vessels covered under CFR 46. The raised rocker format gives the operator a positive switch feel at the panel while the breaker continues to serve as overcurrent protection for the circuit.

Both amperage options use 1/4"-20 tin-plated brass stud terminals, have a 5000A interrupt capacity, and operate across a -40°C to 85°C temperature range, which helps in engine rooms, machinery spaces, pilothouse panels, and other demanding onboard locations.

Key features
  • UL-489 circuit breaker format for vessels and panels where this protection standard is required.
  • Two-pole AC configuration with a maximum voltage rating of 250V AC.
  • Magnetic hydraulic trip-free breaker action, so the breaker cannot be held closed after a trip.
  • Raised rocker actuator for straightforward panel operation and clear manual control.
  • 1/4"-20 tin-plated brass stud terminals with a specified terminal stud torque of 35 in-lb (3.95 Nm).
  • 5000A interrupt capacity for protection against high fault current within the rated application.
  • Rated for 10000 switching cycles and an operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C.
  • #6-32 stainless steel mounting screw with an 8 in-lb (0.9 Nm) mounting screw torque specification.
Variants

This product is offered in multiple amperage configurations with the same raised rocker, two-pole AC breaker format.

The amperage rating is the key difference between variants. Verified shared specifications include the 250V AC maximum voltage rating, magnetic hydraulic trip-free breaker type, 1/4"-20 tin-plated brass stud terminals, 5000A interrupt capacity, and #6-32 stainless steel mounting screw.

  • 7466 - 30A. This version matches 30A AC circuits where a two-pole UL-489 raised rocker breaker is required in the panel.
  • 7467 - 50A. This version matches 50A AC circuits where the installation calls for the same breaker style with a higher amperage rating.
Installation and setup

Use the breaker only within its AC voltage and amperage rating, and match the amperage to the protected circuit, conductor size, and panel design. The terminal studs should be tightened to 35 in-lb (3.95 Nm), and the mounting screw should be tightened to 8 in-lb (0.9 Nm) to keep connections secure without overtightening hardware.

The raised rocker actuator makes the breaker practical for AC distribution panels where the operator needs to switch and reset the circuit from the front of the panel. Leave enough access behind the panel for the stud terminals, cable bends, and service checks.

Marine use

This breaker is a good match for builders, refit yards, and owners working on AC panels that must meet stricter UL-489 requirements. It fits well in vessel electrical systems where compliance, clear panel operation, and serviceable stud connections matter more than a generic breaker replacement.

For best results, confirm the existing cutout, panel layout, conductor sizing, and required breaker rating before installation, especially when replacing an older breaker in a production panel or upgrading an AC source selection area.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
