Overview
The Attwood Marine Livewell/Bailer Drain Plug is a snap-handle plug for sealing livewell and baitwell thru-hull drain openings on small boats, fishing boats, tenders, and sailing dinghies. It uses a cam-action neoprene plug that closes into the drain opening to form a stopper, with brass snaps and plates for the handle hardware.
The plug is tightened with a clockwise turn, then the lever flips down to lock it in place. This range covers common small thru-hull inside diameters, including 7/16 in, 1/2 in, and 5/8 in, so matching the plug to the actual inside diameter of the drain fitting is the key fit check before ordering.
It is meant for water drains in livewells and baitwells, not for fuel, chemical, or solvent service. On board, it works as a simple replacement for a lost or worn drain plug where a quick hand-operated seal is needed without tools.
Key features
- Cam-action neoprene plug snaps shut to form a stopper for livewell and baitwell drains.
- Snap-handle operation tightens with a clockwise turn and locks down with the lever.
- Brass snaps and plates provide the handle hardware for repeated manual use.
- Available for 7/16 in, 1/2 in, and 5/8 in thru-hull inside diameters.
- Suited for water drain applications in livewells, baitwells, bailers, and similar small-boat fittings.
- Not intended for chemicals, fuels, or other non-water plumbing uses.
Variants
This product is offered in multiple thru-hull inside diameter sizes. The operating style stays centered on the same snap-handle cam action, while the plug size changes to match the drain opening.
The important difference between variants is the thru-hull I.D. Confirm the inside diameter of the existing fitting before selecting a size, since an undersized plug may not seal and an oversized plug may not seat correctly.
- 7532A3: Thru-Hull I.D. 7/16 in. This size fits smaller livewell, baitwell, or bailer drain openings where space and fitting diameter are limited.
- 7533A7: Thru-Hull I.D. 1/2 in. This is a common size for compact livewell and baitwell drain fittings on small fishing boats and utility craft.
- 7534A3: Thru-Hull I.D. 5/8 in. This size suits slightly larger drain openings that need the same snap-handle locking action.
Installation and fit
Measure the inside diameter of the thru-hull or drain tube, not the outside diameter of the fitting. The plug should seat squarely in the opening before the handle is turned down, and the cam action should compress the neoprene enough to create a firm seal without forcing the lever.
For routine use, lift the lever to unlock the plug, turn it counter-clockwise to release tension, and remove it by hand. Keep the drain opening clean so sand, bait residue, or scale does not interfere with the plug seating against the tube.
Use on board
This plug is a practical match for boats that use removable stoppers in livewell or baitwell drains, especially fishing skiffs, jon boats, small center consoles, dinghies, and sailboat lockers with simple water-drain fittings. It is also useful as a spare kept on board, since a missing livewell or bailer plug can quickly turn into an avoidable problem at the ramp or dock.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
