Overview

The Simrad 000-15947-001 is a HALO 200X 50 W pulse compression open-array radar package with the pedestal, RI-50 interface module, and a 10 m (33 ft) interconnection cable, with the antenna sold separately. It operates in the upper half of X-band (9.390 to 9.495 GHz) and covers targets from 6 m (20 ft) out to 72 nautical miles.

On your display, preset modes (Harbour, Offshore, Weather, and Bird) handle the everyday tuning work, while Dual Range lets you watch close-in traffic and distant weather returns at the same time. AutoTrack automates target tracking, ZoneTrack can track up to 50 vessels within a defined area with course and speed information, and VelocityTrack uses Doppler to color-code targets for quick relative-motion checks. From standby it comes back instantly, and a cold start is typically 16 to 25 seconds.

The pedestal is rated IPX6 for washdown exposure, and the RI-50 module is rated IPX5. Operating temperature is -25°C to +55°C (-13°F to +131°F), and the system is rated for 80-knot wind at 48 rpm.

Key features
  • 50 W solid-state pulse compression radar with Beam Sharpening support
  • Minimum detection range of 6 m (20 ft) and maximum range scale of 72 nm
  • Dual Range viewing for near and far returns at the same time
  • AutoTrack for automated target tracking and prioritization
  • ZoneTrack tracking of up to 50 vessels within a defined area, including course and speed
  • VelocityTrack Doppler target color-coding plus Dangerous Target Alerts for radar and AIS targets
  • RI-50 accepts 12 V (10.8 to 15 V DC) or 24 V (20 to 31.2 V DC); typical draw is 45 to 60 W average and about 11 W in standby
  • Ethernet 10/100 Base-T (RJ-45) for radar data and control; antenna rotation speed is 16 to 48 rpm
What’s included
  • HALO 200X radar pedestal
  • RI-50 radar interface and power module
  • 10 m (33 ft) interconnection cable (power and Ethernet)
Installation and setup

This system is intended for a hardtop, radar arch, pole, or mast location with a clear all-around view and enough height to reduce blind spots from sails, towers, and rigging. Plan clearance for the rotating antenna sweep: turning-circle diameters are 1142 mm (44.96 in) for a 3 ft array, 1443 mm (56.81 in) for a 4 ft array, and 2047 mm (80.59 in) for a 6 ft array.

For onboard instrument placement, the pedestal compass safe distance is 1.0 m (3.3 ft) for a standard compass and 0.5 m (1.6 ft) for a steering compass. The RI-50 compass safe distance is 0.1 m (0.33 ft). With antenna mounted, overall pedestal height is 429 mm (16.88 in). Component weights are 20.3 kg (44.8 lb) for the pedestal, 1.6 kg (3.5 lb) for the RI-50, and 1.6 kg (3.5 lb) for the 10 m cable.

Power and network integration

The RI-50 is the hub for both power and networking. It takes vessel DC input (12 V or 24 V) and supplies the pedestal with a nominal 50 V DC output. Peak power consumption is up to 235 W on a 12 V system and 380 W on a 24 V system, with typical average draw listed at 45 to 60 W depending on conditions.

Radar data and control run over Ethernet (10/100 Base-T) from the RI-50 to your marine network and compatible display. Keep the RI-50 in a dry, accessible space so service loops, cable routing, and connections stay tidy and protected.

Compatibility and fit

This radar platform supports Simrad GO XSR, GO XSE (9 and 12), NSS evo3, NSS evo3S, NSO evo3, NSO evo3S, and NSO evo3S MPU systems. It also supports Simrad R2009 and R3016 radar control units. If you are integrating into an existing radar installation, confirm your display software level and available Ethernet ports before final mounting and cable routing.

Antenna selection notes

A compatible HALO open-array antenna is required for operation and is not included with this package. Array length affects beam width: 2.4 degrees for a 3 ft array, 1.8 degrees for a 4 ft array, and 1.2 degrees for a 6 ft array, with Beam Sharpening reducing those values to 1.7 degrees, 1.3 degrees, and 0.8 degrees respectively.

Use on board

This setup fits boats that regularly move between tight harbour work and longer offshore runs, where you want target tracking features running in the background without constant manual tuning. It is also a solid match for sportfishing crews who rely on Bird mode and Doppler target separation while searching and running at speed.

Maintenance and care

Rinse salt off the pedestal exterior after heavy spray or washdowns, and periodically check mounting fasteners and cable strain relief for movement from vibration. Keep Ethernet and power connections clean, dry, and well-supported to avoid intermittent radar dropouts in rough water.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
