Overview
The JL Audio M6 Marine Subwoofers is a family of marine subwoofer drivers offered in 8 in and 10 in sizes, each with a 4 ohm load and continuous power handling of 200 W (8 in) or 250 W (10 in). Configurations cover both infinite-baffle (free-air) installs and enclosed-use options, along with grille color and style choices that let you match the look across the boat.
These subwoofers are built for real cockpit and cabin conditions where gear sees spray, sun, and vibration. The front is protected from water ingress, but the rear terminals and wiring are not waterproof, so plan the mounting location and any enclosures so the back of the driver stays dry and protected from washdowns.
Key features
- 8 in model fit: 7.375 in mounting hole diameter with 5.00 in mounting depth.
- 10 in model fit: 8.875 in mounting hole diameter with 5.90 in mounting depth clearance.
- 4 ohm subwoofer drivers rated for 200 W continuous (8 in) or 250 W continuous (10 in) power handling.
- Range includes both infinite-baffle (free-air) and enclosed-use variants, depending on the part number.
- Transflective RGB LED lighting is available on select variants; the LED circuit runs on 10 to 14.4 V DC and uses a 750 mA fast-blow fuse per subwoofer on the LED positive lead.
- Grille color and style options include White Classic, White Sport, Titanium Sport, White Luxe, and Black Luxe.
Variants
This range is offered in many configurations, and the details that matter for fit and wiring are tied to the specific part number.
Across the lineup, variants differ by size (8 in or 10 in), installation type (infinite-baffle/free-air or enclosed-use), Transflective LED lighting (yes or no), and grille color/style. Audio wiring remains a standard two-conductor speaker connection, while LED-equipped versions add a separate 12 V lighting harness that needs its own fused feed.
Compatibility and fit
Start with the physical clearances. The 8 in driver uses a 7.375 in cutout and needs 5.00 in of depth behind the mounting surface. The 10 in driver uses an 8.875 in cutout and needs 5.90 in of depth clearance.
Mounting on a flat, solid surface helps the seal at the front and keeps vibration down. If you have a magnetic compass nearby, leave space so the subwoofer does not interfere with it.
Installation and setup
If the mounting location is exposed to weather or water, install on a vertical surface. A horizontal surface facing up can let water pool around the grille, which causes damage over time. For exterior installs, keep the driver well above the waterline and away from docks, pilings, and areas where it could be submerged.
Route speaker wires and any LED leads so they cannot chafe on sharp edges. When passing through panels, use rubber grommets and keep all connections insulated so nothing can ground out.
Electrical and system integration
On the audio side, these are 4 ohm subwoofer drivers. Match your amplifier and tuning to the driver size: 200 W continuous for the 8 in model and 250 W continuous for the 10 in model.
For LED-equipped versions, the lighting circuit is 12 V (10 to 14.4 V DC) and requires an inline 750 mA fast-blow fuse per subwoofer at the power-source end of the LED positive lead. Use at least 20 AWG wire for the LED power and ground runs, and do not connect the LED lighting to 24 V systems or to navigation light circuits.
Use cases on board
This series suits boats where you want low-frequency support that holds together in open-air listening, such as cockpit seating zones, helm areas, or salon systems that need more bottom end. LED variants also make sense when you already have an accent-lighting plan and want the audio zones to match the rest of the boat at night.
Maintenance and care
Wash the exposed surfaces with mild soap and rinse with fresh water. Avoid high-pressure spray and do not allow water to soak the rear of the driver, terminals, or wiring.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
