Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Standard CableCap is a PVC battery terminal cover pair for insulating battery terminals that have marine adapter terminals installed. It is supplied as a red and black pair, so positive and negative battery connections stay easy to identify during service, troubleshooting, and battery replacement.
This product family covers common battery cable sizes used on boats, with the small version fitting cable sizes 4, 2, and 1, and the large version fitting cable sizes 1/0 and 2/0. The caps help reduce exposed metal at the battery connection, which matters in lockers, consoles, engine spaces, and other areas where tools, gear, or nearby conductors may come close to the terminals.
Key features
- PVC construction for use as a battery terminal insulating cover.
- Red and black pair supports clear positive and negative battery terminal identification.
- Made for batteries with marine adapter terminals added on.
- Small size supports cable sizes 4, 2, and 1.
- Large size supports cable sizes 1/0 and 2/0.
- Helps cover exposed terminal hardware in battery compartments, helm consoles, and service areas where accidental contact is a concern.
Variants
The Standard CableCap is offered in two size configurations for different battery cable installations.
Both variants are red and black PVC pairs for batteries with marine adapter terminals added on. The difference is the cable size range each cap is made to fit.
- 4005: Small. Fits cable sizes 4, 2, and 1, making it suited to smaller battery cable runs and accessory battery connections that use those conductor sizes.
- 4006: Large. Fits cable sizes 1/0 and 2/0, giving more room for larger battery cables used on higher-current DC circuits.
Installation and fit
Match the cap size to the battery cable, terminal hardware, and adapter terminal arrangement before installation. The cap should sit over the terminal connection without being forced, pinched, or cut around the cable entry.
On boats with multiple batteries, color-coded terminal covers also make routine checks faster. They help crew or service technicians confirm polarity at a glance before disconnecting chargers, battery switches, inverter cables, or DC distribution feeds.
Use cases on board
This CableCap is a practical fit for battery boxes, engine room battery banks, center console battery compartments, sailboat house banks, and small craft starting batteries where marine adapter terminals are installed. It is especially useful when added ring terminals or adapter hardware leave more of the connection exposed than a basic automotive-style post cover would cover.
Maintenance and care
Inspect the caps during battery service for cracking, deformation, or looseness, especially in compartments exposed to heat, vibration, or frequent battery work. Replace any cap that no longer covers the terminal cleanly, since the value of the part comes from keeping the connection covered and easy to identify.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
