Overview
The Victron Energy VE.Direct to USB Interface is a communication cable for connecting Victron products with a VE.Direct port to a computer, USB host device, or compatible GX system. It is used when a direct wired link is preferred for setup, monitoring, diagnostics, data access, or firmware work through Victron software.
For marine electrical systems, this interface is useful around the chart table, nav station, electrical locker, or service bench where battery monitors, MPPT solar charge controllers, and other VE.Direct equipment need to be checked without relying on a wireless connection. The range includes host connector options for USB and USB-C, so the cable can match older laptops, newer computers, or the available port on the installation equipment.
Key features
- Connects Victron products with a VE.Direct port to a device with a USB or USB-C host port, depending on the selected variant.
- Useful for configuration, monitoring, diagnostics, and firmware updates through VictronConnect on a compatible computer.
- Allows more than two VE.Direct products to be connected to a single Color Control GX when the system layout requires additional VE.Direct connections.
- Includes galvanic isolation circuitry between the VE.Direct side and the USB side for safer communication between connected electronics.
- Works well for onboard troubleshooting where a wired data connection is preferred near the battery bank, solar controller, or electrical panel.
Variants
This product is offered in two host connector configurations. Both versions serve the same VE.Direct communication role, while the computer-side connector changes to suit the equipment being used for setup or service.
The VE.Direct connection remains the system-side interface for compatible Victron products. The host connector is the difference that matters when matching the cable to a laptop, computer, or GX installation port.
- ASS030530010: Host connector USB. This version suits computers and host devices with a standard USB port, which is still common on service laptops and many onboard workstations.
- ASS030530030: Host connector USB-C. This version suits newer laptops and devices that use USB-C, reducing the need for a separate adapter during setup or diagnostics.
Installation and setup
Connect the VE.Direct end to the compatible Victron device and the host connector to the computer or compatible system port. In a boat installation, route the cable so it is not strained by panel doors, battery compartment covers, or service access points, and keep it away from sharp edges and high-current cable runs where practical.
This is a data interface, so it should be treated as part of the monitoring and service side of the electrical system rather than as a power cable. It is most often used temporarily for commissioning and troubleshooting, but it can also be left in place where a fixed wired connection to a GX device is required.
Compatibility and fit
The key fit requirement is a Victron product with a VE.Direct port and a host device with the matching USB or USB-C connection. Before ordering, check the port style on the computer or GX device that will be used on board, since that is the practical difference between the two variants.
This interface is a good match for boat owners, installers, and technicians who work with Victron battery monitoring, solar charging, or energy management equipment and need a direct way to communicate with VE.Direct devices during installation, commissioning, or service.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
