Overview
The Jabsco Utility Hand Pumps is a range of manual brass hand pumps for boat bilge work, oil draining, and general onboard liquid transfer where a simple hand-operated pump is easier than wiring an electric unit. The range includes 1-1/4" and 1-3/4" cylinder sizes, with stroke lengths from 4-5/8" to 14" and output ratings from 7 to 40 strokes per gallon depending on the model.
These pumps are useful in lockers, engine spaces, tool kits, and emergency gear because they need no 12V or 24V power source. They prime by hand, give suction on the first stroke, and can be used in any position, which helps when the pickup point is awkward or the bilge pocket is hard to reach.
Key features
- Manual operation avoids wiring, switches, breakers, and battery dependency for service pumping or backup use.
- Long-life brass cylinders with oil-resistant plungers suit common boat maintenance tasks such as bilge pumping and engine or gearbox oil removal.
- Full suction on the first stroke helps when moving liquid from shallow bilge areas, dipstick tubes, or tight service spaces.
- Models cover 7, 15, 26, and 40 strokes per gallon, giving options for higher-volume pumping or compact service work.
- Can be used in any position, which is helpful around engines, lockers, and low bilge points where straight access is limited.
- Not for gasoline, solvents, thinners, or other flammable liquids.
Variants
This product is offered in four pump configurations with different cylinder diameters, stroke lengths, and hose supplies. The larger pump moves more liquid per stroke, while the shorter models are easier to store and better suited to smaller service jobs around the engine room or toolbox.
Across the range, the pumps share the same hand-operated utility pump purpose and brass-cylinder construction. Hose supplies vary by model, so the selected configuration matters when the job needs a ready hose kit rather than a pump body only.
- 33745-0000: 1-3/4" cylinder diameter, 14" stroke length, no hose supplies. This is the largest configuration in the group and is the model to consider for higher-volume manual bilge or transfer work where hoses will be supplied separately.
- 33760-0000: 1-1/4" cylinder diameter, 13" stroke length, supplied with 5' of 1/2" hose. This configuration gives a long stroke in the smaller cylinder size and includes hose for straightforward discharge setup.
- 33799-0000: 1-1/4" cylinder diameter, 7-1/2" stroke length, supplied with 3' of 1/2" hose, 40" of 5/16" hose, and 40" of 1/4" hose. The mixed hose sizes make it useful for service work through smaller access points such as dipstick tubes and tight engine spaces.
- 34060-0010: 1-1/4" cylinder diameter, 4-5/8" stroke length, supplied with 2' of 1/2" hose and 40" of 1/4" hose. This is the most compact configuration and fits well in a maintenance kit for small engine and gearbox oil-drain jobs.
Installation and use
These are portable hand pumps rather than fixed electric pumps, so setup is mainly about hose routing and access. Place or connect the intake side at the liquid source, keep the discharge hose led to a safe container or overboard point where appropriate, and pump steadily by hand. For bilge use, the intake needs to reach the lowest practical point so the remaining water can be lifted out.
For oil service, keep the pumped oil temperature within the product limit of 140 F and use a suitable waste container. After use, clean the pump according to the liquid handled and store it where the brass cylinder and hose ends are protected from grit, salt residue, and locker damage.
Compatibility and fit
The main fit points are cylinder diameter, overall pump length, hose connection size, and the hose supplies included with the selected variant. The 33745-0000 uses a 1" hose connection and has a 22-1/2" overall length, while the 33760-0000, 33799-0000, and 34060-0010 use 1/2" hose connections with overall lengths of 17", 12", and 10-1/4" respectively.
This range is a good match for boat owners who want a non-electric backup pump, a simple maintenance pump for oil changes, or a portable transfer pump that can live aboard without taking much space. It is not a replacement for a properly installed automatic bilge pump where continuous unattended pumping is required.
