Overview

The Raymarine E70648 is a VCM100 voltage converter module for compatible Raymarine open-array radar systems. It connects between the vessel's 12 V or 24 V DC supply and the radar scanner, giving the scanner the dedicated power path it requires instead of feeding it directly from the battery.

This is a below-deck installation part, not a general-purpose power supply for mixed onboard electronics. The housing is splashproof, it needs to be mounted vertically for heat dissipation, and the cable run from the battery isolator switch or DC distribution panel to the module should be kept short, normally no more than 6 m.

Key features
  • Accepts 12 V or 24 V DC vessel power for compatible Raymarine radar installations
  • Used as the required power interface for compatible radar scanners, with the scanner connected through the VCM100 rather than straight to the battery
  • One radar scanner is connected per VCM100 unit
  • Splashproof housing for below-deck mounting
  • Vertical mounting requirement with room below the unit for cable routing and support
  • SCREEN terminals connect to the vessel's RF ground system, and the module is not for positively grounded power systems
Compatibility and fit

This module is for Raymarine radar systems that call for the VCM100 part number E70648. It is a good match for replacing a failed converter in an existing radar setup or for finishing a new installation where the scanner power must be routed through a dedicated converter module.

Before ordering, check that your boat has a clear flat vertical mounting surface below deck, enough space to route the cables without tight bends, and room to keep the unit at least 1 m away from a magnetic compass.

Installation and setup

Power is taken from a battery isolator switch or DC distribution panel with fuse protection on the feed. The module also needs an RF ground connection at the SCREEN terminals. Where the drain wire is extended, the specified size is AWG 10 multi-stranded cable or 8 mm braid.

This is the right kind of component for enclosed helm spaces, equipment lockers, and technical compartments where radar wiring can be kept protected and tidy. It suits installers and boat owners who need a direct replacement part that matches a compatible Raymarine radar power layout.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
