Overview

The Jabsco 18670-0943 is a 24 Vdc Commercial Duty Water Puppy flexible impeller pump for bilge transfer and other general pumping jobs on board. It uses a bronze pump body, a nitrile impeller, and a lip seal, with flow up to 34.1 litres per minute at 5 ft of head. Port connections give you 1/2 in internal pipe threads, a 1 in external hose barb, and adapters for 3/4 in female garden hose fittings.

This pump suits boats that already run a 24 V service circuit and need a compact transfer pump that can handle wet bilge conditions and small debris. The permanent magnet motor has a fully enclosed housing, a stainless steel shaft, and a ball type shaft bearing, and the pump head can be rotated 180 degrees to suit the hose run and flow direction.

Key features
  • 24 Vdc motor with 5A draw and a 10A fuse recommendation
  • Bronze body with a nitrile flexible impeller and lip seal
  • Approximate flow of 34.1 LPM at 5 ft of head, 31.8 LPM at 10 ft, and 26.1 LPM at 20 ft
  • 1/2 in internal pipe threads and 1 in external hose barb connections, plus adapters for 3/4 in female garden hose fittings
  • Permanent magnet motor with a fully enclosed housing, stainless steel shaft, and ball type shaft bearing
  • Pump head rotates 180 degrees, and the motor has enough torque to reverse the pump when the installation needs that function
  • Motor meets USCG 183.410 and ISO 8846 ignition protection requirements, and the pump is built to ISO 8849 bilge pump standard
Installation and setup

Mount the unit in a dry, ventilated location. The motor is not waterproof and should not be submerged. The pump can be mounted in any position, and it is worth arranging the hose connections so any drips cannot run onto the motor.

On the suction side, use hose that will not kink and keep all connections airtight so the pump primes faster. A strainer on the intake helps keep trash and solids out of the impeller. As with other flexible impeller pumps, it should not be left running dry, and it should not be used against a closed outlet such as a shut-off nozzle.

Electrical and system integration

For 24 V boats, the electrical side is straightforward: current draw is 5A and fuse size is 10A. Minimum wire size is 1.5 mm2 for total circuit runs up to 30 ft, increasing to 2.5 mm2 for 30 to 40 ft total run. Normal operating pressure should stay within 20 ft of head, which is about 8.7 psi or 0.6 bar.

Compatibility and fit

Allow space for a body size of about 76 mm high, 175 mm long, and 120 mm wide, plus hose bend clearance at the ports. Pumped liquid temperature can range from 7 to 82 C. This is a good match for bilge transfer, washdown feed, livewell circulation, bait tank work, and other water-moving jobs on 24 V boats.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
