Installation and setup
The monitor is meant for panel installation where the display can be seen and reached during normal operation. Common mounting locations include the DC distribution panel, AC shore power panel, navigation station, helm electrical area, or an engine room monitoring panel, depending on what the selected model measures.
For DC battery monitoring, plan the installation around the monitored banks, shunt placement where required, and the routing of small signal wiring back to the display. For AC monitoring, installation should be handled with proper marine AC safety practices, correct overcurrent protection, and separation between AC and DC wiring as required on board.
Compatibility and fit
Before ordering, match the selected M2 monitor to the system being measured rather than only to the panel opening. A DC voltmeter is suited to battery-bank voltage checks, a DC ammeter or multimeter is used where current and state of charge matter, and the AC versions are for shore power or generator circuits that need voltage, current, frequency, or power information.
Tank and bilge versions serve different onboard jobs. The tank monitor handles level monitoring for up to four tanks, while the bilge meter tracks up to four bilges and can show activity such as pump cycles and run-time information. The vessel systems version is better suited to boats that want several of these functions consolidated in one display location.
