Overview
This Blue Sea Systems dual USB charger is a marine DC charging option for adding USB power at the helm, cockpit, cabin, nav station, or an accessory panel. The range covers socket-mount and Contura switch-mount installations, with voltage options for 12V, 24V, 12/24V, and 48V DC systems depending on the selected variant.
The 12/24V charger versions provide 4.8A total output at 5V DC, while the 48V versions provide 4A total output at 5V DC. The 12/24V models accept a 9-32V DC input range, and the 48V models accept a 32-64V DC input range, which helps buyers match the charger to the vessel, golf cart, or DC accessory system before cutting a panel or wiring the circuit.
These chargers use intelligent device recognition so phones, tablets, and other USB-powered devices can charge at the rate they request. Depending on the version, the installation fits either a common 1-1/8 in round mounting hole, an existing Contura switch aperture, or a 360 Panel module layout.
Key features
- Dual USB Type-A charging for phones, tablets, and other mobile devices used on board.
- Intelligent device recognition adjusts charging behavior to the connected device.
- Internal filtering helps reduce electronic interference in nearby DC electrical systems.
- Reverse polarity, short circuit, and thermal overload protection are included on the charger versions where specified.
- IP45 rating with the cover closed on the 12/24V and 48V charger variants helps protect the ports from spray and debris in exposed mounting areas.
- Socket-mount versions fit a common 1-1/8 in hole, which suits dashboards, consoles, switch panels, and cockpit accessory locations.
- Switch-mount versions fit an existing Contura switch aperture for a clean panel installation without changing the switch-panel style.
- Potted electronics on the 12/24V and 48V charger versions help the circuit board tolerate the vibration and damp conditions common in marine service.
Variants
The product is offered in multiple configurations for different installation styles and DC system voltages. The main differences are the mount format and input voltage, so the selected version should match both the available panel cutout and the electrical system feeding the charger.
The 12/24V and 48V charger variants share dual USB Type-A output, intelligent device recognition, internal filtering, and built-in electrical protections. The 1478 configuration is a 360 Panel module that combines a 12V DC socket with a dual USB charger, so its panel format and output rating differ from the round socket-mount charger versions.
- 1046: Socket mount installation, 48V voltage. This version mounts in a common 1-1/8 in round hole and supports 48V DC systems with a 32-64V DC input range.
- 1038: Switch mount installation, 48V voltage. This version fits an existing Contura switch aperture, which works well when the charger needs to match a Contura-style helm or accessory panel.
- 1039: Switch mount installation, 24V voltage. This switch-mount version is part of the 12/24V charger range with a 9-32V DC input range, making it suitable for 24V DC installations when the panel uses a Contura aperture.
- 1045: Socket mount installation, 12/24V voltage. This round socket-mount version fits a common 1-1/8 in hole and supports both 12V and 24V DC electrical systems.
- 1478: Socket mount installation, 12V voltage. This version is a 360 Panel module with one 12V DC socket and one dual USB charger, giving the panel both USB charging and a 12V accessory socket.
Installation and fit
Before installation, confirm the panel opening and the supply voltage. The socket-mount charger versions are meant for a common 1-1/8 in hole, while the Contura switch-mount versions use the rectangular Contura switch aperture found on many marine switch panels.
For wiring, the charger should be connected to a protected DC circuit that matches the selected voltage version. The 12/24V models are not the same as the 48V models, so matching the charger to the boat or vehicle electrical system is more important than matching only the physical mount style.
Electrical and system integration
The dual USB output is useful for keeping phones, tablets, handheld GPS units, action cameras, and Bluetooth accessories charged while underway or at the dock. The internal filtering is useful in helm and electronics areas where VHF radios, chartplotters, fishfinders, and other DC electronics may be installed nearby.
This charger range is a practical match for refits where an older 12V socket is being supplemented with USB charging, for new helm panels that need a clean USB power point, and for utility panels where crew need easy access to device charging without using a loose adapter.
Maintenance and care
Keep the cover closed when the USB ports are not in use, especially in cockpit, console, and open-boat installations where spray, salt, and dust can reach the panel. Periodically check that the cover moves freely and that the terminals remain clean and secure after vibration, washdowns, or seasonal layup.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
