Overview

This Attwood Marine Mercury/Mariner fuel tank and hose fitting range is for connecting portable fuel tanks and fuel hoses on Mercury and Mariner outboard fuel systems. The range covers the two sides of the connection: a 1/4" NPT tank male fitting in brass and a 3/8" barb hose female fitting in acetal.

These fittings are small parts, but they matter when setting up or servicing an outboard fuel line. They help create the connection point between the tank and hose assembly, so they are most relevant when replacing a worn fitting, building a new portable tank setup, or matching a hose end to an existing Mercury or Mariner fuel tank connection.

Variants

This product is offered in two configurations for different connection points in a Mercury or Mariner outboard fuel system.

The part that changes between variants is the fitting style: one option is the tank-side threaded connector and the other is the hose-side barbed connector. Material also changes by configuration, with brass used on the tank fitting and acetal used on the hose fitting.

• 8873-6: Connection Type 1/4" NPT Thread, End Type Tank Male, Material Brass. This version installs at the fuel tank connection point where a 1/4" NPT male tank fitting is needed.
• 8890LP6: Connection Type 3/8" Barb, End Type Hose Female, Material Acetal. This version attaches to 3/8" inside diameter fuel hose and serves as the hose-side female fitting for the tank connection.

Installation and fit

Match the fitting to the side of the system being serviced before ordering. The 8873-6 fitting is for the tank side with a 1/4" NPT threaded connection, while the 8890LP6 fitting is for the hose side where a 3/8" barb is needed.

For threaded fuel fittings, use a fuel-compatible thread sealant and avoid over-tightening into the tank fitting boss. For the barbed hose fitting, use fuel hose of the correct inside diameter and secure it with a proper fuel hose clamp. After installation, prime the fuel line and check the connection for leaks before running the engine.

Use on board

These fittings are a practical match for boaters maintaining portable outboard fuel systems on fishing boats, small runabouts, tenders, and other Mercury or Mariner-powered boats. They are especially useful when an old quick-connect fitting no longer locks cleanly, the hose end has been changed, or a spare fuel tank needs to match the existing hose assembly.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund.
