Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 Mackay to Twofold Bay chart is an electronic cartography region for compatible Garmin chartplotters, covering the Australian east coast from Mackay down to Eden, including areas such as Hervey Bay, Fraser Island, Brisbane, Sydney, Port Stephens, and Twofold Bay.
It is offered as BlueChart g3 Vision or standard BlueChart g3, and you can get it either on an SD card (microSD/SD) or as a download you install to a memory card. The Vision version adds extra map layers like high-resolution relief shading, satellite imagery overlays, and 3D MarinerEye and FishEye views, plus depth range shading (up to 10 ranges) and up to 1-foot contours where available.
This is the sort of chart you leave in the plotter for everyday coastal runs: depth contours and soundings for picking a track, navigation aids for staying on the marks, and tide and current information for planning bar crossings and arrival times.
Key features
- Regional coverage: eastern Australia from Mackay to Eden (Twofold Bay area), including Hervey Bay, Fraser Island, Brisbane, Sydney, and Port Stephens

Variants
This chart region is offered in multiple configurations that vary by chart version (BlueChart g3 Vision vs BlueChart g3) and delivery format (SD card vs download).
The geographic coverage remains focused on the same Mackay to Twofold Bay coastline, while the Vision options add the extra presentation layers such as satellite imagery, relief shading, and 3D views.

Compatibility and fit
This cartography is for Garmin chartplotters that support BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision and have a chart card slot (microSD or SD, depending on the unit). If your boat has multiple Garmin displays on a Garmin Marine Network, the chart can be shared across the network from the unit that has the card inserted and, for download versions, from the unit it was unlocked to.
Support varies by model and software version, so it is worth confirming your plotter lists BlueChart g3 compatibility before buying, especially on older displays.
Installation and setup
For the SD card versions, insert the card into the chartplotter and leave it in place while you want the charts available. If you remove the card, the chart data goes with it.
For the download versions, install the chart to a microSD/SD card using Garmin Express on a computer. Plan on using a dedicated card for the chart, since a single microSD/SD card is intended to hold one chart product at a time.
Use on board
Coverage spans popular cruising and fishing water from Mackay and the Whitsundays down past Brisbane and Sydney to Eden, with chart detail around places like Hervey Bay, Fraser Island, Port Stephens, and Twofold Bay. It fits owners running a fixed-mount Garmin plotter who want dedicated, regional electronic coverage for coastal navigation.
Maintenance and care
Keep the card clean and dry, avoid handling it with wet or salty hands, and store it in a protective case when it is not in the plotter. If you are using a download version, keep that chart card assigned to the same boat and chartplotter it was registered to.
