Variants
This chart region is offered in multiple configurations that vary by chart level (BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision) and delivery format (preloaded card or download).
The region coverage stays focused on southern Africa (HXAF002R for BlueChart g3 and VAF002R for BlueChart g3 Vision). The Vision option adds extra chart layers and views, including route guidance and imagery layers where available, while the standard g3 version keeps to the core navigation and depth tools.

Compatibility and fit
This is cartography for Garmin chartplotters that support BlueChart g3 mapping and use microSD/SD media. If you run multiple displays on a Garmin marine network, the chart can be viewed on networked units when the card is inserted in the chartplotter the chart is unlocked to.
Installation and updates
For card versions, insert the microSD/SD chart card into the chartplotter and allow it to index. For download versions, use Garmin Express with a computer and a microSD/SD card reader to install the chart and unlock it to the selected chartplotter. Updates are handled through Garmin Express, and new chart purchases may qualify for a one-time update when registered.
Use cases on board
This chart is a practical match for cruising, fishing, and passagemaking along the South African coast and nearby waters, especially if you rely on depth-based overlays to manage approach routes, harbor entrances, and inshore passages. It also suits skippers who move between coastal legs and inland waters in the region and want those areas available in the same chart coverage.
