Overview

The Garmin 010-11971-00 is a snap-on protective cover for Garmin GPSMAP 5x7 Series and echoMAP 50s Series fixed-mount units. It covers the front of the display when the unit is not in use, helping keep spray, sun, and dockside grime off the screen and front controls.

It fits GPSMAP 527, 527xs, 547, and 547xs, as well as echoMAP 50s and echoMAP 50dv.

Compatibility and fit

This cover is shaped for the face of the compatible units listed above. It is meant as a storage and protection cover and does not replace a mount, bracket, or sealing gasket.

If your unit model name is similar but not an exact match, confirm the model number on the display label before ordering since covers are model-specific.

Installation and use

Press the cover onto the front of the unit until it sits evenly around the edges. Remove it before powering up or operating the chartplotter.

After a salty day, rinse the cover and the area around the display with fresh water and let everything dry before snapping the cover back on, so grit is less likely to be trapped against the screen.

Use on board

This is a good match for open-console boats, sailboats, and pilothouses where the display sits exposed between trips, and for trailering or seasonal storage where the screen can get bumped or coated in road dust.

Maintenance and care

Wash with mild soap and water as needed. Avoid harsh cleaners that can cloud the surface or leave residue where the cover contacts the display.
