Overview
The Garmin GPSMAP 84xx/86xx series is a touchscreen multifunction display and chartplotter family with 10", 12", 16", and 17" Full HD screens, sold in packages that can include built-in sonar and either a Worldwide basemap or Garmin Navionics+ charts. It brings charting, navigation, and system control onto one helm display, with a screen that stays readable in bright sun and when you are wearing polarized sunglasses.
For system builds, it connects over NMEA 2000 and the Garmin Marine Network so you can share data and accessories across displays. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ANT, which helps when you want app-based management and compatible wireless accessories in the cockpit.
All models use a housing built from die-cast aluminum and polycarbonate plastic and carry an IEC 60529 IPX7 water rating for incidental exposure up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes. Power input and fusing depend on display size, with support that fits common 12 V and 24 V onboard systems when wired and protected correctly.

When comparing options, treat Sonar Yes as the chartplotter/sonar combination packages and Sonar No as the display-only chartplotter packages. Chart content is also tied to the bundle, so the included cartography depends on whether the configuration is listed with Worldwide basemap or Garmin Navionics+.
Installation and helm fit
These displays can be mounted flush in a dash cutout or flat mounted so multiple screens can sit edge-to-edge for a glass-helm style panel. For 10", 12", and 16" units, plan about 11.1 cm (4 3/8 in.) of clearance behind the panel for connectors and cable routing.
If you prefer a bracket mount, the 10" and 12" models include the bail-mount bracket and hardware, while the 16" bail mount uses an accessory bracket. Before you seal and fasten the unit, confirm cable routing, strain relief, and access to the back of the display for service and any card access your setup requires.
Electrical and environmental notes
Operating temperature range is -15°C to 55°C (5°F to 131°F). For overcurrent protection, the 10"/12"/16" models specify a 10 A, 125 V fast-acting fuse, while the 17" models specify a 15 A fuse.
Power input depends on size: 10"/12"/16" models accept 10 to 32 VDC, and 17" models accept 10 to 35 VDC. That range supports both 12 V and 24 V systems, but the wiring gauge and fuse selection should match the model and your run length.
Networking and system integration
NMEA 2000 support allows the display to sit on a backbone with engine data, sensors, and marine instruments, while the Garmin Marine Network supports sharing and integration across multiple displays and network accessories. SmartMode layouts help keep common helm views one tap away when switching between tasks on the water.
Wi-Fi supports pairing with the ActiveCaptain app for functions such as software management and smart notifications, and OneHelm integration support allows compatible third-party systems to be controlled from the screen.
Sonar and transducer pairing
Configurations marked with Sonar Yes include built-in sonar capability. They support traditional CHIRP sonar and scanning views such as ClearVü and SideVü, with results that depend on choosing a compatible transducer matched to your hull and fishing style.
Configurations marked with Sonar No are chartplotter-only packages, which can make sense when sonar is already handled elsewhere in the system or when you prefer to add it separately.
Charts and day-to-day navigation
Some packages include the Worldwide basemap for general navigation, while others include Garmin Navionics+ chart content. Keeping the same chart bundle across stations can simplify route sharing and make it easier to keep everyone on the same page when running inshore channels or planning an offshore track.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund.
