Overview
The Garmin Navionics+ / Navionics Vision+ Mexico, the Caribbean to Brazil is an electronic chart region for compatible Garmin chartplotters, built for trips that move between inland waterways and open coastal routes. It is available as either a preprogrammed microSD/SD card or a download, and it includes a one-year subscription with access to daily chart updates through the ActiveCaptain app.
On the water, it helps with practical decisions like depth awareness and route planning. Auto Guidance+ can suggest a dock-to-dock path using your entered safe depth and overhead clearance, and depth range shading lets you highlight target depths with up to 10 shaded ranges for faster at-a-glance reading.
Key features
- Mexico, Caribbean to Brazil region coverage with both inland lakes/rivers and coastal detail in one chart set
- One-year subscription with daily chart updates available through the ActiveCaptain app
- Updates can also be handled through Garmin Express, depending on your update workflow
- Auto Guidance+ route suggestions based on your chosen safe depth and overhead clearance (planning only)
- Depth range shading with up to 10 depth ranges to keep shallow areas and target depths easy to spot
- Offered in both Navionics+ and Navionics Vision+ versions, with microSD/SD or download delivery
Variants
This chart region is offered in multiple configurations to match the chart level and delivery format you want on board.
Variants differ by version (Navionics+ or Navionics Vision+) and by format (microSD/SD card or Download). Navionics Vision+ adds premium layers such as high-resolution relief shading and satellite imagery overlays where available for the area.
- 010-C1285-20: Version Garmin Navionics+ in microSD/SD format. This is a physical card option for chartplotters that read cartography from a memory card slot.
- 010-D1887-20: Version Garmin Navionics+ in Download format. This delivers the chart electronically and keeps updates managed through the connected app or desktop update workflow.
- 010-C1285-00: Version Garmin Navionics Vision+ in microSD/SD format. This card-based option adds the Vision+ premium layers on compatible Garmin displays where the data is supported.
- 010-D1887-00: Version Garmin Navionics Vision+ in Download format. This provides the Vision+ chart electronically, with downloads and subscription content managed through the connected update workflow.
Coverage and chart content
This region covers Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean through Brazil, with inland content included alongside coastal detail. It also includes coverage that extends into areas such as the U.S. Gulf Coast and parts of the U.S. East Coast up to Savannah, GA, plus offshore areas and island chains across the Caribbean and nearby waters.
Expect the kind of chart content you actually use underway: coastlines, channels, navigation aids, port and marina detail where charted, plus inland lakes and rivers within the region. Detail density varies by local survey and chart availability, especially in remote areas and less-traveled inland zones.
Updates and subscription
The included one-year subscription unlocks daily chart updates and downloadable content after activation. Updates are commonly handled through the ActiveCaptain app, and Garmin Express can also be used in many setups. When the subscription term ends, the charts remain usable as installed, but access to new updates and additional downloadable content stops unless renewed.
Compatibility and setup
Use this with a compatible Garmin chartplotter that supports Garmin Navionics+ or Garmin Navionics Vision+ cartography. For microSD/SD versions, the card is inserted in the chartplotter’s memory card slot; for Download versions, the chart is delivered through your connected update method, so plan for a stable internet connection during download and update sessions.
If you plan to use Auto Guidance+, take the time to enter realistic safe depth and overhead clearance settings for your boat and typical load. The route suggestions are a planning tool and do not replace lookout, updated local knowledge, and safe navigation practices.
Who it suits
This region is a good match for cruisers running between Mexico, the islands, and Brazil, as well as skippers who want one chart set that covers coastal passages and inland waypoints on the same display. It also fits fishing-focused setups where depth range shading is used to keep productive depth bands visible while you work along structure.
